It's importance lies in not being misunderstood...Thanks for the "distant learning" refresher!

    NOT here for Grammar advise!

    Oh, the irony.

    It didn't take long.

I must admit my grammar is shocking (wayward teen).
I'm not sure which is better, the actual post or the comments

I feel there is a trickle down theory or hypothesis hidden in the approach to grammar these days.

We have come a long way and now we are losing everything we were taught. When we fall, the drop is farther than when we first started on our journey.

"Between you and me" is grammatically right.
"Between you and I" is a grammatical fright.
Cause a prep needs an object,
It does not need a subject.
And the difference is there if you're bright.

    Quoting rope_n_cuffs:
An educational system that deliberately teaches children to read using phonics - mis-spelled words - then trued to correct it later. One that values expression over grammar. Could this be where the problem lies?

What is this thing called love?
What is this thing called, Love?
What is this thing, called Love?
What! is this thing called love?
I think you are correct, and I love your examples. Thank you for sharing them.

No, you have it all wrong according to the modern education system. Spelling and grammar are subservient to expressing your feelings..... We even use a system with deliberate mis-spelling to help the young to read. Then try to correct it later. So help me!

Too true! Grammar, and punctuation both.
