Something To Ponder A thousand years from today, everyone you know will be long dead and forgotten. There’ll be nothing left of the life you love, no evidence that you ever walked this planet. That, at least, is what the fundamentalist materialists would have you believe. But suppose the truth is very different? What if in fact every little thing you do subtly alters the course of world history? What if your day-to-day decisions will actually help determine how the human species navigates its way through the epic turning point we’re living through? And finally, what if you will be alive in a thousand years, reincarnated into a fresh body, and in possession of the memories of the person, you were back in this era? These are my hypotheses. These are my prophecies. This is why I say: Live as if your soul is eternal. ~Rob Brezsny "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.” |

ali I think it is interesting but my time frame is much shorter and I only want to set a good example for friends and family now.... A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny

thought provoking, and a stunning image. I do believe that each and every one of has HAS the power to change the world. Only by changing yourself, you can already change the part of the world that you occupy, thus, you change the world. possibly even the big currents. the biggest landslide starts with a small pebble! Be the pebble! When you come to a fork in the road, take it. __Yogi Berra

Even many of the most ardent materialist lives as if they have something to contribute. If they are contributing something today to man-kind today and all we are is determinist animals then you do make a difference to the future

Life is not about all the steps we take, the journey or places we've been. It's about the footprints we leave behind in others lives we've touched. My indian upbringing taught it simple as the earth doesn't belong us . . We belong to the earth . . When you return to the earth, take the memories and leave behind only footprints worthy of being followed.

I'm not sure about remembering my current life, to be honest. Everything else you say however is the guiding principle for my current life. A friend asked me once, but how betrayed will you feel when you die and find out that there is nothing at all? And my answer was a smile: How can you feel betrayed when there is nothing. In that case I simply cease to exist and there is nothing left that could feel betrayed.

So: "That, at least, is what the fundamentalist materialists would have you believe. But suppose the truth is very different? What if in fact every little thing you do subtly alters the course of world history?" Check out the word "Fundamentalist materialists" I think you are confusing this with scientific evidence - but if you are happy believing in little green people living on Mars ...well that's ok with me....LOL

I will probably be pondering this the rest of the day.

This is so interesting to me. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”
