Let Go..... T.S.Eliot wrote some words nearly seventy years ago; words that resonate with me more and more the older I grow. “What we know of other people is only our memory of the moments during which we knew them. And they have changed since then.” I often find myself revisiting these words. They both break my heart and propel me forward. It’s sad realizing the person you once shared your life with, shared your deepest secrets with, were most vulnerable with is no longer that person. They’ve changed. Perhaps for the better or, worse, moved on and left you behind. And yet, these words also provide me with a reminder that change is, as always, inevitable. And not only will people change but so will I. These words remind me to truly invest in people. Be an active participant in my life. Be grateful. Listen. Cherish moments and sincerely strive to stay in contact with those I respect and adore. And if they must go, then let them. I’m no longer part of their story as they are no longer vital to mine.
