Nostalgia I miss written letters. The waiting and anticipation. The slower pace required and the absence of spell-check. Seeing a word crossed out with a single line or completely obliterated with a chaotic scribble. Deep grooves of the heavy pen pusher or the odd slant of a lefty. Letters where so many words spilled out the writer ran out of room and wrote up the side of the page or better yet broke their spacing and squished words closer together. Sentences piled on top of each other. Awful penmanship that was hard to decipher. Loopy cursive. Long letters in which you see the pen fade, run out of ink and then be replaced with another color. Letters scented with perfume or sealed with lipstick kisses. Folded neatly, edges so sharp you know they diligently ran their nail along the folded crease. The formality of ‘yours sincerely’ or ‘best regards". And the always present P.S. tagged at the end. I miss the care and attention, the personal touch of written letters. They were expressions of affection. Correspondence from one’s heart spilled across a piece of paper. @daily-esprit-descalier "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.” |

ali Letter writing is is real danger of becoming a lost art! I sometimes read (published) letters of great people and it is such a pleasure A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny

I miss all that too. I am amazed that checks no longer have to be written in cursive. You can fill them out by printing! I never thought I would feel the loss of romanticism by not having to write a check.

I love to send cards with handwritten letters on them. Especially to people I love. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”
