Just Curious........ What's the weirdest, strangest stuff you waste time on the internet reading or watching that ISN'T porn? We all have dirty little nerdy secrets! What's yours? For example, I have spent hours reading poetry and short stories (erotica). I've also spent some time watching gadget videos for cooking. But my biggest guilty pleasure lately is watching live music (concerts). Like bands, I've never heard of. Or Dylan when he was young. So, what's your guilty pleasure? ~M . "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.” |

Dear Jaded I do similar to you with the reading of erotica, or watching those various hacks for doing different things whilst listening to Utube concerts/ songs that people like you or SoftRayne keep writing about. It is surprising, considering I am a very 'handy man' in a knockaround way, of things that I learn from those hacks.

Reading is really what I do the most on the internet. Just about anything that crosses my mind from porn, to comic books, to sports, to just random stuff. I really am a big nerd at heart.

As far as I'm concerned the internet is a swamp. About once a week I speed as fast as I can through all of the facebook postings I get notices about, commenting on a few and zipping through the rest as fast as i can. A small amount of time is spent looking up things that catch my attention about my very eclectic set of interests or quotes I want to use in my writing that I've forgotten the exact wording of. Otherwise, just buying stuff online that I can't find in stores (like a set of venetian blinds operated with cords for a window that sits 5 1/2 feet above the floor and is 50" by 30").

YouTube, watching nomad and van life vids. I like researching van and truck camper built outs. Being pretty much retired now, I’d love to spend the winter months tricking out my truck and then spend the spring, summer and fall traveling the backroads and trails seeing the sights, going to rally’s, meetups, outdoor concerts, fairs and festivals. While regularly popping into towns along the journey, for an Airbnb and a brewpub.

When i had a bit more time on my hands, it would be YT, oldies music, and preppers fora, learning to survive in the woods, on your own. Tips and trics about permaculture gardening, ecological, circulair gardening, no waste. DIY. Stir fry cooking, baking stuff with just one or two ingredients. survival stuff. Auyrvedic knowledge. Always want to learn! Want to know, about how other socalled primitive folks lived. Other cultures, other ways of living, survival.

ali As a contrarian, I try to spend as little free time on the Net as possible (apart from porn and women's wear ) I too love your choice of photo "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

The don't call it the Worldwide Waste of Time for nothing. Most of my Internet time is spent on YouTube where I focus on a number of things: 1. Old time radio programs (a perfect art form); 2. My favorite bands and singers; 3. History-related documentaries, particularly those about the world between 1890 - 1960; 4. Retro movies and tv shows, including film noir, westerns, war films and musicals; 5. Travel and restaurant reviews (but not when I'm hungry); and 6. Videos of people playing slot machines and certain table games. I still try to find some time for erotica as well. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I've always been one to make things have a purpose. Things need to be functional, or they are gone from my life. Closest I get to this thought is playing solitaire for hours on end, but even that was to kill time. Once I found other things to do, Solitaire was left behind. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I forgot another guilty pleasure. Vinyl. I love certain LP covers. They are works of art. I can never replace my collection. Even if they show use, isn't that a good thing? Somebody loved the music, somebody was passionate about it. A worn LP jacket/cover whatever is left is representation of the legacy. So the quest is never ending. Why is that such a comforting thought? "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”
