This Isn't My Game With a variety of ways to socialize at our disposal, is it any wonder we are watching the meaningful face-to-face exchange wither and dye? We default to the short, shallow, emoji-laden exchanges, rather than the more prolonged conversations in person. The detailed catch-ups over a drink have been replaced with the snappy keypad hello. Texts trump dinner invitations and coffee dates. Quick and painless. Minimal effort. But I’m greedy. I want more. I want eye contact. I want you to hold my hand; feel you squeeze to emphasize your point. I want to smell your scent. Hear your laugh. See your smile. Wipe tears away. I need real visceral connection not the glow of my phone. I can’t stomach another night alone, words without words, love without love. This isn’t my game. I politely bow out. @daily-esprit-descalier "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.” |

Glad you'll stay around! I can feel the time for me approaching when I might reduce my time on here quite a bit.... When you come to a fork in the road, take it. __Yogi Berra

I love to keep my phone at home, when i am on the road, doing what ever it is, what i am doing. My phone is always on mute. I prefere first online contact to get some overall info about that other person, when i get the feel that he is alright, is emotional stable, i want to meet, without my phone in action. It can also be a safety catch, when on a date, on your own... I dont give my phone number to just about anyone Very private, about that. Face to face is much appreciated. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I am part of a lifestyle community group, and we hold munches twice a month. We started a social media presence beyond the website and fetlife page. We are having lots of success with getting younger people to come out, however we are shocked by the social awkwardness of a large portion of the newer attendees. It is in some ways sad, funny, enlightening, shocking and tiring; all at the same time. There are more ways than ever to communicate, however actual communication skills are in short supply. I know exactly what you mean. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I do carry my phone, but I crave those face-to-face interactions "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I don't have a cell /smart phone for a reason. I much prefer face to face or at a minimum actual voice communication. But face to face is certainly more telling. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I'm doing the same thing, basically. No notifications (except texts). "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I hope that "bow out" was no hint that you are planning to leave alt any time soon? I enjoy reading your blog, and would like to hear and see more of you Though I agree, personal contact is to be preferred to the glow of the phone "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I too bow out... I do not normally carry my phone or take it with me where ever I go It is truly mind control at its finest. Think about it... People are paying to be tracked where ever they go by the authority. and their attention, is already taken. Not mine! No wonder I do not fit in... Look around you, life is good, If one takes the time to appreciate it "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I have only had a smart phone for about a year now, and I have no understanding of why people are so addicted to these things. As a phone I find it to be rather useless nine times out of ten it won't pick up calls. Other than for watching Youtubes, and e-mail I have very little use for it. In my opinion social media does more to keep apart than bring them together...it's a very poor substitute for face-to-face contact.

I love to feel nature with someone...a walk in the garden while holding hands etc, these days, all you get is a short message saying the weather is so lovely today...

As much as I like hearing from Courtney in texts each day, I look forward and prefer the sinners and sleep overs where we can talk face to face

Hm well it’s sad unfortunately that these days the only way to meet peeps is thru social media l believe majority wants eye to eye flesh to flesh contact & to bow out but the need to find companionship keeps them looking...in order to bow out you must first tune in to find what your looking for after weeding out the many undesirables!

My post was banned because it had the word D-I-E in it. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

So true. These days are so full of digital communication. It can make a person feel very disconnected. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”
