Black and White For every person who thinks you're "too quiet," there's one who thinks you're an amazing listener. For every person who thinks you're "too weird," there's one who admires how you dare to stand out from the crowd. For every person who thinks you're "too sensitive," there's one who respects you for being so in touch with your feelings. For every person who thinks you're "too confident" there's one who thinks your self-respect is an inspiration. What's a negative trait in one person's eyes might be exactly what someone else is looking for. It's not black or white ~M.  "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. Beautiful lady, I maintain that WE are all SPECIAL in our own way, and it takes just one person to recognise that fact for life to change and for contentment and fulfillment to be attained. Nicely put, ALJ. Life is a kind of crapshoot in that regard. Some days we win, some days we lose, the other days are rain-outs. I think that when it comes to describing or attempting to define or identify ourselves, four things–four perspectives– must be considered to get the most accurate or truthful reflection of ourselves. The self analysis involving these four aspects can at times prove difficult or remain elusively out of our reach or else, blocked. I think of these four things to be borne in mind, as the four panels of a larger single window. When we fail to consider even one of those panels, the larger window of the self is somehow lacking or incomplete, remaining more or less obscured or foggy. In order to gain and give complete transparency to the window, we must do our best to evaluate each panel or perspective with complete honesty and empathy. The four panels, I label in the following manner: panel #1–how I actually perceive myself; panel #2– how others actually perceive me; panel #3–how I think others perceive me; panel #4– How others think I perceive myself.The closer a person comes to making the fairest and most painfully honest evaluation of these four aspects that constitute the self, the more well-adjusted that person will be in life. As you can see, the eyes of one’s beholders are to a significant degree constitutive of and integral to the picture/definition/description one has of oneself and one’s identity.. No one exists in a void or vacuum or as a complete singularity, despite the fact that a fingerprint might suggest, to the contrary, our absolute uniqueness. Perhaps there is more than a grain of truth to the saying that sometimes we must go along to get along. Finding love’s deeper connection is, more often than not, very serendipitous. That event or happening–that feeling– can seem to ambush its targeted “victims.” As I said, life is a kind of crapshoot. Or, as you said, “it’s not black or white.” Different beholders can perceive us differently, which can complicate our self-analysis. But that’s what makes a horse- race. Only the fact that different people bet on different horses, enables a horse-race to exist. “If everybody thought the same, then they would all bet on the same horse, then nobody would make any money. Hence, different views make for horse racing. It were not best that we should all think alike; it is difference of opinion that makes horse races” OR LIFE, ITSELF, to exist the way it does and must. When I was young, I spent a lot of time trying to ‘make people like me.’ Coming from a dysfunctional and abusive home, I didn’t really have a sense of self-worth. I learned to read folk really well. I think today they call it ‘emotional intelligence.’ However, due to my background I often had a bit of a victim mindset. Bad things were things that happened to me, rather than often being things to which I sometimes contributed. With the evolution of age and distance from those events and folks, I’ve been able to look back and see the times where my choices were ingredients in the formula for that conclusion. Part of this evolution has been the realization that that I’ve not always been the hero. I’ve not always been the white knight. Sometimes, I was the highwayman. Sometimes, I was the Lex Luthor in someone else’s Superman saga. Sometimes, I was the villain in my own. There can be beauty in excess… Traveling to remote islands… Scaling high mountains… Watching your lover lose complete control, trying to maintain self-control but ultimately drowning in the crashing tsunami of orgasm… All of those can be beautiful. But, there is also beauty in balance. To understand one’s place in providing that balance is ineffable. Thank you for the thoughts, today.
