Truth

Truth is a lonely road, meant for all,
but chosen by few:
brave pilgrims,
wild idealists, and far too many fools.

The footing is rough and never certain.
The light is bad, The way is poorly marked,
sometimes not at all.

Truth has its own coordinates.
Dead reckoning will never do.
It makes no sense. There are no maps.
Most get lost and never return.

Truth is a lonely road.
It takes heart and mind and soul.
You look within to walk about.

There much to lose along the way:
fortune, friends, and fame,
and sometimes even lovers too.

Uncertainty clings like a fog.
No one knows where it leads
or even where it goes.
