Hello Tee. Yes there was a comment in there... presumably he didnt like my musical taste and deleted his profile!

|
I anticipate restricted involvement this weekend as I am getting my second vaccine shot on Saturday, and everyone has told me that this shot is much harder on the system than than the first... Seems we are both at the mercy of the medical profession... lol Yes I would love to see your great bass list!

OMG I am so sorry Tee... This is totally down to my misunderstanding your comment... I thought you were going to provide me with the list, and I see now that you meant for me to provide you with those bass grooves.... Let me give it some thought... I felt perfectly fine today, no after effects whatsoever, so I buggered off out for the day... Do you mind if I ask from where does your interest in the bass come???

It's really quite funny that you asked me about bass players... I play the bass myself, or I used to, many years ago... I was about to send you a picture of my axe, but I can't figure out how to attach a picture into this blog post! So, as bass players go, my favourite has always been Roger Glover (Deep Purple) as he is one of the few players who does not sound like a frustrated lead guitarist. He gets a couple of mentions in the following list but really you could look at most of his live work (Made in Japan is fantastic) but you really need to whack up the bass settings as he is far too far down in the mix. For a lot of these players its more about feel than technique... Tho they are all more than sound technically! So you could probably find something extra under any of the names listed... Higher Ground is not really my cup of tea, but I include it here as I'm sure you will be familiar with that tune... I'm not one for that "slap" bass which is more the province of fruity jazz players... As regards those guys, you could look at anything by Jaco Pastorious or Stanley Clarke! So here's the main list... Pictures of Home – Deep Purple Sledgehammer – Peter Gabriel Xanadu - Rush Chelsea Monday – Marillion Addicted to the Rush – Mr. Big No No No - Deep Purple Higher Ground - Red Hot Chilli Peppers Take the Time – Dream Theater In the Cage - Genesis (Live version preferably from 3 Sides Live! Red Rain - Peter Gabriel Tom Sawyer – Rush Killer - from Cozy Powell's solo album Over the Top! Honourable Mentions over and above those guys on the list above: Chris Squire - Yes Nick Beggs - Steve Hackett and (god it pains me to say this!) Kajagoogoo Geezer Butler - Black Sabbath and Heaven and Hell John Entwistle - The Who So here you go plenty for you to work thru there... Stay safe Tee...

Thank you for such kind words Tee, You make doing this all the more worthwhile!

Hello Tee... Truly I am not elusive.... It's just the time zone differentials that make things harder, sadly! If we were both on the site at the same time we could use my private chat room or we could simply exchange email addresses, if you like. Mine is squonk2562 AT geemale dotcom. Obviously I have tried to disguise the spelling cos I know that they try to censor any such addresses... Btw, did you see that I also commented on your comments on that post about japanese bukkake movies??? Hope to chat more soon, Tee!

Then I look forward to chatting with you some more, and hopefully showing you that I can be even more fun than you think!

Early Genesis had Peter Gabriel on the vocals, but he left in 1974. Phil Collins was the drummer at that point (altho he had sung on a couple of tracks) but when they were auditioning new singers Phil was showing them how to sing the songs but he was always better than everyone else so they just let him come out from behind the drum kit and when they were on tour they got another drummer to do his parts and he did the vocals. That's why they have the Drum Duet parts in the live shows!
