How Pathetic Can People Be?

We are all aware of the inundation of fake profiles here on alt, and the associated potential problems they can cause by scamming people out of money, or worse, identity. However, one must pose a question: Why do so many fall victim?

Many will call out the offending profiles by way of comments against their photos, videos, and statuses, so being aware of the issue shouldn't be anything but obvious. Internet scams are also widely advertised and warned by governments all over the world, yet so many are oblivious to the facts. Sites like tineye and Google make it easy to search for photos and videos, and they are mentioned widely by members making comments against such fakes, yet the problem persists, ever expansively.

This brings about the obvious site issues due to two main types of idiots; 1) those that are suckers for the fakes, giving them attention and possibly money, and 2) the idiots that don't do any checking, either due to lack of knowledge or initiative, who call out legitimate members as being fakes or scammers.

I guess the real purpose of this blog thread is to invite open conversation about what we, as a community, can do to help a movement towards at least a part remedy. Remember, the idiots that I speak of are not the offenders, merely those who are suckered, and they are just as entitled to use this site as anyone. Is it possible to educate them? Are there any other moves we can take? Let us not forget that although most of the profiles are women, there are male ones too, so the women here will also be targets.

Folks, the floor is open.

Several members have pointed out photos from porn sites or other sources that strongly suggest the person is not who they claim. I have also begun to see a pattern of terrible syntax, subject verb disagreements, lack of both the definite and indefinite articles which often don't exist in other languages, and appalling punctuation. This strongly suggests that the writer, or at least the person who composed the profile text does not speak very good English. And the last thing... a beautiful blond who claims to be a "native American". There are many beautiful truly native American women, but they don't generally look Scandinavian. Native American does not mean someone who was born in America in 1992, 1492 perhaps, but not 1992.

I look forward to others thoughts and postings.

Yes, you are correct. The English used in many of these profiles have absolutely terrible grammar, such as using the word "am" in place of "I am". Read what they write out aloud and you can hear just how awful it is.

I have found that a certain amount of men, think with a body part that is not made for thinking, so they get f8cked over, by socalled dominas, dommes.. and what not.

Also, there seem to be men, who like to pose as a woman and talk with women,, once there is some from of contact, they all of the sudden contact said woman and tell them, they are a man....
What is the point of that? I wonder...
Trust being broken,

YOu Just have to be very carefull, and watch out for things that feel a bit off.
They most of the time, are!

dont jump into a mail exchange inmediately, but take your time, to re read that message, again and again, sleep a night over it, and thén... drumroll, answer back...
If it is a fake, he/ she has already moved on, most of the time.

Also, when *you* want to jump into the 'sexual submissive game' from the first sentence, typed.. you are ready for a f*ck up.
You dont knów that said d, at all
You are acting out a porn/ sex fantasie online.

I dont have a remedie, at all
just be patient and ask a hell of a lot of quesions, real life questions, not about the size of dick/labia, breasth, fetishes, only... etc

I agree Rosa, with the exception that some of these men don't think with any part of their anatomy. The brain cells are idle. There is one particular female who comments on many female profiles, who also has no idea of who she is corresponding. I just shake my head.

There are several ways to check photos and find out of they are stolen from other sites. Tineye comes to mind. That's more for personal protection through rather than combating the scamming as a whole. It's so common though...you would think that joining any online site for dating that wariness of being bamboozled would be baked into a person's posture when being contacted by anyone. And, as others have pointed out, most of them are just too easy to spot. Scammers have become so blatant and common that they've become sloppy. I've seen multiples new profiles on here where all the photos come from well known Instagram models.

It's becoming difficult to feel for people who have been scammed. But the scammers might not have proliferated so much if there wasn't some return on their time and effort investments. There's a lot of suckers out there.

I understand what you're saying, and concur, but if someone is that foolish, or just new, it doesn't hurt to educate them somewhat. That may eventually reduce the numbers of fakes if they aren't getting any reception. As for the foolhardy, I agree, they aren't worth helping if they are that lazy.

Yes it does seem surprising how many people seem to fall victim to the scammers,
I assume they do, or the scammers would stop/go away.

Of course for men it's always a danger when we get turn on, blood goes in
one direction, leaving insuffient for the brain to funtion correctly.

Some people get called out as fake when I see no reason to know that for sure.
Ok if they've got a photo on their profile of a well know pornstar, it's fairly
reasonable to assume they are a fake. Some have wording that doesn't make
good english, but we should remember there are plenty of people in the US.
UK. or Australia who may not have english as their first langauge.

Of course the people who could do the most about it are Alt themselves.
One has to wonder why they don't, perhaps the site would look a little
sparse if they removed all the fakes & scammers.
On the other hand if they did the site might well attract an influx of genuine
people seeking meetings & relationships.
Now there's a thought!

I agree with your point of view wholeheartedly, but the poor English in the fake accounts really do have a regular pattern to the errors made, indicating they probably originate from the same place.

LYears ago, I used to be a prolific blogger here. Number one mostly. And I hooked up with a man, who was a submissive and had a real nice blog. Geez, good looking, eloquent, all that. And when I agreed to meet him? The guy had to be 70 years old, walked with a cane, and so very unkempt. He smelled ! Nothing like his pic which was when he was in his early 40s.
Lesson learned. Even bloggers are fake. I spoke with just everybody I knew and told them, Why? To not make them subjected to him.
Alt used to be a tight knit community WE protected our own. I am not sure that I see that here anymore. But, I've only been reading blogs for a couple of weeks now.

I have these fake profiles and scammers deleted wherever possible. This site really sucks for even allowing all of these pornstars and celebrity photos to even make it to an active profile.

Howling at the moon and mal ad osteo.
