The backlash is a coming I find it funny how companies make billions with a tried and true formula...but then decided to have a " new coke" momment. Gillette corp owned by p&g decided they need to go after the millennials. Apparently the trend with the younger generation is to stop shaving all together. Face palm..the lumbersexual look lives on. So gillete decided this generation is wrapped up heavily into social issues. They decided to release a series of commericals focused on men and their behavior. Instead of working with men/ their loyal customer on men's issues, gillete decided to whip out the flamethrower and burn the forrest down. Basically they used the ads to burn men. The ceo conceeded that its not a big deal. The company didnt need or want that sorta of male customer anyway. Fast forward..5 months later and the gillete division lost 8 billion dollars. The ceo then switched the ad campaign away from male bashing to " local" heros. The same could be said of the movies. I have no problem with strong female characters..women being the lead or being the whole cast.. But for christs sake can we atleast get a good story. These writers are so engaged in diversity and pc politics that they want to write blogs instead of writing movies. Sure capt marvel made money...sure the avengers made money..sure star wars made money. But if a business attacks its core audience and guts the very soul out of its story.. We are gonna get bombs like solo... Instead of working with the customer base companies continue to force their dogma down our throats. For example we are getting an all female avengers.. Why? No really why? Noone asked for it..it seems to push an agenda. None of the women/ girls characters slotted for this team have a successful selling comic book. None of the actresses slotted to play these characters have box office cashe or proven success. There is little overseas recognition of these actresses. So lets just push off anyways? Im not against strong women or an all female cast.. but it seems like a hodge podge of characters thrown together to make a " team". I think disney will continue with its fanboy attacks and pushing away a certain audience. I think disney will learn their new coke lesson.. |

And yes is the part where some person insist i am afraid of strong women ( rollin eyes complete with a picard face palm). I have no problem with strong women..hell look at harry potter for example. Emma watson was the strongest of all the actors/ characters Hell if you noticed the writers gave her alot of ron's lines/ actions from the books We all loved harry potter. Now imagine if hermonine acted like rey ( doing ninja cartwheels or casting advanced spells with no study or training). Imagine if she walked up to professor snapes instantly knew more than him ( i call this one " pulling a solo") Imagine if her whole character was tied to social injustice. Imagine if hogworts had to be filled with diversity... For diversity sake. Imagine if ron and the rest of the male cast simply died off,moved and hermoine granger became the star. And it doesnt matter what the authors political leanings are..cause she didnt force them on the audience. You can be a feminist without resorting to writing all the male characters out of the series. Finally the female characters are literally given the keys to these franchises and allowed to drive.. Which is fine...but please stop mary sueing them..stop making then into literally Goddesses( capt marvel is superman..female thor..is well thor..rey is apparently the most gifted jedi ever..odd considering adakin had the highest midychlorines levels ever and no dad..hence a jesus christ referrence).. So rey is better than the star wars version of..God. Yes i said...princess leah who couldnt free herself from jabba the hutt can now survive the vacuume of space.. The got woman in solo goes from thief/ girlfriend to a high level assassin to the mob in 3 yrs. Rose goes from being a potato sack with a tazer...a lowely guard to flying ships..which she crashed into fin. Are there no more hermoine grangers...a complete well rounded character that grows and earns her stripes through hard work and study. Its not like dumbledoff just said fuck it..he's done and tells hermoine to run the show

Its the start of the backlash. You cant push your core audience away and plan to replace them with other ( a more female one?..a more gay one?..a more black one?) Why? Cause you end up with a " wrinkle in time" scenario.. Where your new target audience really isnt interested and the core audience said fuvk you.. You end up with a boxoffice bomb. Despite the fact that it starred freaking Oprah. It would be like the wnba literally saying fuck you to its core audience ( women,lesbians).. And actively courting an all male audience.. Sure it may seem logical seeing how men actually watch sports and given the financial track record of the wnba. But men arent interested in the woman's game and you pissed off your base that enjoys your product. Companies like disney may brush off this as fanboys or man babies. But i think they fail to see how organized this side is
