Freedom of speech goes right out the window at k state

Now this lil incident happened at kansas state in manhattan ks ( so yeah they are hardly uc berkley).

A student uses his personal twitter account and makes a joke about George floyd being clean and free for over a month now.

The black athletes get a wind of this and start to make demands..either the university immediately expells anyone that uses racist speech on social media..

Or they will stop going to booster events...meaning doing meet and greets with the big time doners.

So ofcourse the university is gonna expell the that made the joke..he's a nobody vs the millions of dollars generated by the football and basketball team

Now remind yourself this isnt a professor, coach or even a university employee in any shape or form.
The joke was not made on campus, wasnt generated on any university equipment or on a campus owned website..
Hell the joke wasnt even told in front of other students

This student isnt under contract in any form...so he is not subjected to a morality clause.
And i doubt just being a student puts you leaglly under one.

And no doubt this student will sue and like 3 yrs down the road the university will make a big time $$$ settlement.

But in the meantime will any other university except him for a transfer...will he be able to get a job? Google his name and up pops up this story

Now some may say why defend a racist pos? Serves him right....does it?

Because of the precedent it sets up...what really is racism and how is it defined? It seems like it is very easy to upset someone on a college campus..

Dont support blm? Voting for trump?
Wear a MAMGA hat?..Speaking out and defending your position could now easily get you kicked out..god forbid you counter protest
All it takes is for the basketball team to get upset and your gone. The university literally gave them the power and method to do so.

You will be labeled a racist...so people on the right will be silenced. It's very brown coat to me

This is canceal culture.

Once again this had nothing to do with the university other than the student went there. Its on his twitter account.

Instead the president of the university should have brought i n the student and those athletes that felt offended and had an honest conversation.

He could have let the athletes speak on the matter and maybe they could have really reached this guy..

Expelling a 19yr old dude for a joke is just stupid. Ruining his college career is worse...paying his ass for violating his freedom of speech a few years down the road..

Priceless..,but hey its your tax money.

And the universities now have given the student athlete more power. What happens if the basketball team demands say a head coach be fired or they arent doing the meet and greets for the big money alumni ?

And yes i am cool with the concept that universities should be allowed to bar certain groups on campus..say the kkk.

But this was this guy's personal twitter account that has nothing to do with the university.

It really reminds me of a school wanting to punish students for something that happened off school grounds and not on school time.

And might i remind you..this literally is a university stuck out in the boonies of kansas. Id hate to see what it could turn into at say oregon or ucla.

This is a very scary time that we live in. If you write anything online that happens to offend someone in any kind of way, and they blow it way out of proportion in a flamboyant drama queen fashion, you can get expelled from a school or fired from a job because the people in charge are too cowardly to say to the complainers "Don't let it bother you". If I were the university president, I would have calmly told the complaining student athletes that if they don't go to the meet and greets and behave themselves, they get to sit on the bench all game long every game. And if they continue to complain, they lose their scholarships. By caving in to their demands, the athletes will now feel empowered to make even bolder demands, like demanding the resignations of any professors who don't automatically give them an A grade for a class, even if they don't show up. Once you start surrendering, it never ends.

Like i said the joke is in bad taste. But universities are known for crushing student's first admendment rights.

Last time i looked racism is protected under this admendent.

Look im not endorsing it, but im defending a person's right to say it.

And now universities are allowing student athletes to decide what type of speech is allowed on campus.

If a star rb is offended then the student is literally thrown out of school.

Its literally like living in communist china where people walk on eggshells
