As someone that identifies as being very into dudes you'd think i'd be into a "gay" form of captain America.

But omg it's like disney hired writers based on their progressive state and sexual orientation..
Instead of their ability to write comics.

So captain america is on a road trip to " find his shield"..huh? And runs into others using his persona to fight...???

The good cause?? ( er this is 2021..social justice)..insert cringe in..3..2..1

One character literally is labeled the " railroad cap" because he protects the homeless and the lgbtq?
In the railyards...no less...( i kidd you not)

Huh? Like gay dudes are at the railyards with homeless people? Is this like 1870?

Now i've always been down with inclusion...

But marvel,dc has always put the nutsqueeze on the small comic book shop. They force them to buy so much.
So obviously they are gonna buy what sells.

Nobody asked for a gay rail road defending version of cap. It's just not economical to stock this comic when it's customer base is 99.999 percent straight male.

Yet noone calls out dc or disney marvel for pushing something that doesnt sell...
Or literally pushing the small shops out of business

ok and so what. oh wait, it hurt your feelings that gay people exist. wait, you think a captain america can't be gay because it goes against your feelings.

oh no, Disney is hiring people who are good for business, how horrible.

maybe it is because railroad caps are a thing and have been since railroads were a thing.

I did. there, I proved you wrong but you did not know that. I hate the same old boring captain america and I wanted something different.

people like you literally said the same thing about miles morales and now he is one of the highest if not the highest selling Spider-Man.

all because they did the opposite of what you want

Sorry but did you read the blog? I said yeah im pretty gay and enjoy seeing gays included in things like movies,tv shows etc.

But i also explained that the comic industry creates comics that dont sell and then blames the mom and pop shops that operate on a tight budget. They and their customers have been labeled as racist, sexist, homophobes.

Mom/ pops only will buy what the customer wants to read.

So if my customer base is 99.999 straight males over 40 i seriously doubt i will order 100 plus copies of gay capt america...they will sit on the shelves..

And no disney ( marvel comics).. nor dc comic will buy back the unsold stock.

It's basically virtual signalling...disney gets to be progressive while pushing stock on small business.

And turning off it's customers.

So tons of small shops go out of business.

Disney is famous for hiring people based on their political idiologies and sexual orientation over their experience in the industry and their talent.

This is why we end up with super hero crap like batwoman that finally has been cancealed.

Like i said i have no problem with making superheros gay..even established characters.

But disney/ dc comic then has to support the small shops economically and grow a fan base for these sorta books.

Its like the uswn soccer teams that demands the same money as the men...yet puts no effort into growing a fan base..

Spiderman will always be spiderman..you could make him transgendered in a wheelchair and the fans would still watch..

Why? He is one of the big 3 or 4 legends...sups/ bats/ spider man and probably wolverine.

Try doing the same thing with any other character and the books dont sell...noone is reading say the gender swapped thor.

You want something different? Then support these books and movies. Cause it seems like others want the standard straight captain america.
Nothing worse than the twitterverse outcry for more diversity and then?
Well nothing..they dont buy comic books, merch, see the ,movies etc.

And in the end this fraction hurts the small comic book shop barely getting by.

Meanwhile disney lets marvel comics financially go down the shithole and puts the whole industry in jeopardy...
Just for diversity sake..

This is akin to saying i dont like the current nba...i want change so the league now has to add players based on quotas rather than talent...
We need more white americans,asians, latinos,openly gays,transgenders,women..

And you know damn well the product would suffer and you'd be offput as a fan..

But hey..you got your change

Sweetie, I hate to tell you this, but there are a lot of ladies out here who love some good Cap/Bucky slash. Or Cap/Sam, Cap/Tony, Cap/Thor, or lots and LOTS of others.

I don't mean to rain on your he-man comix love, but what you're claiming just ain't so.

Thank you!

What so many people fail to understand is the importance of the readers being able to see themselves in the characters, ESPECIALLY when those readers are younger. Miles Morales was one of the best things that ever happened with Spiderman in terms of how my students relate to him. I could dig Stan Lee up out of his grave and slap him for his reaction to making Peter be bisexual in this latest set of movies! Don't get me wrong, I *LOVE* Michael B. Jordan in the role of Killmonger over in Black Panther, but it would have been SO wonderful to see him as Peter's boyfriend!

Oh, what that could have done for some of the teens I work with! And Peter has always been a perfect vessel for talking to the "I'm not part of the cool crowd" teenagers!

SHAME on you, Stan Lee!
