I will preface this by saying yes i do have compasion for the homeless...but you dont turn your city into a shithole to accomodate them ( ala san fran).

And yes i'll be the first to admit kc has a homeless problem.

But some group is organizing ( i'd say using the homeless) for some game...
All of a sudden tents popped up all over city grounds.

Finally this group set up tent cities on the lawn of city hall and in a bar district.

And they made demands

??? Huh...any other group would have been forced off, arrested etc.

So the city caved and decided to put 500 homeless into nearby hotels for atleast 90 days.
The problem with that ofcourse is alot of these people dont bathe...and yes we just build a huge empty brand new hotel right before the corona hit..

And your not getting body smell out of the sheets, matresses, the carpets etc.
So the tax payers will be on the hook for that as well.

Not to mention the city will most likely be liable if these homeless people attack, r word or get injured.
Will the city have to provide police security to these hotels

And after that the city promised to build a permanent tent city free with all these services provided...
And the mayor wants to put them on the city payroll as ,maintenance ( and im assuming that is with full benefits of a city employee).

So im guess that means higher taxes or less cops hired this year..

I'm sorry but did i suddenly move to communist russia...free food, free tent, free social services, free job...why would anyone work at ,McDonalds..seems like the homeless have it sweet.

Meanwhile the city just renewed the 1 percent city tax...taking 1 percent of my income to pay for crap like this..

And this doesnt solve homelessness...it only attracts more homeless people.

Yeah, it sort of makes you feel like a sucker - you get up, go to work, earn a paycheck, but somebody else gets to reap the benefits. And if you complain, well, who knows, you might find yourself in a "re-education camp"!

Interesting problems. Do you have any solutions? I worked in Golden Gate Park while going to college. I found that Homeless people were camping in the bushes and feasting on Peacocks back then. No one to stop them no one to provide for them. People who are down on their luck need support in some way. People who are working and providing for themselves should not be forced to provide for the less fortunate. Still, what can be done. What caused the Great Depression? Why did people flee the dust bowl states? Are Countries responsible for their citizens? Do we go back to the old ways and simply slaughter the excess? Terrible problems with no good answers.

The blackest lie is a partial truth that leads you to the wrong conclusion.
