Would you be in favor of a national dna registry? Now there is a good debate

Now ofcourse the US government would cream their jeans over the thought of a national registry of DNA.

Stating that it might end crime..

we've gotten a taste of a national registry with ancestory and 23 and me...which retain any DNA sample you send them.

Yet I'm really suprised in certain socialist countries that this doesn't exist...like Norway etc.

I bring this topic up because sooo many people are praising this DNA registry for quickly identifying this alleged Idaho killer..

I wonder where is their donation to such a registry..

Now I really doubt DNA alone was enough to track this guy down...the cops do enjoy acting like alot of that csi tech actually exist..like " touch dna"

Either way..I do like the idea that such a database might deter crime..

I am not in favor of a manditory data collection of citizens..but maybe a voluntary one.

And for me It's not about stopping serial killers as it would be say..the R ( word)..

I know this is a slippery slope...but I'd be in favor of such a data base if it could eliminate or greatly reduce the amount of R word in this country.
Or even use it as a deterrent....don't do it cause you will be easily caught..

Your thoughts...

And if a idea of a national database was framed as a deterrent to r word...I honestly think I've one of the men guys in line

No registry for private citizens. For anything. Americans need to be ungovernable.

Uncommon.. im assuming your talking about DNA collected from convicted criminals.

Im referring to a nat database of citizens..

And yes i think it is inappropriate that law officials are using 23 and me without warrants simply by sending in a cold case samples.

I also dont think its right for these sites to keep your dna to improve/ increase their database.

And your paying for this...
Its like paying to be on facebook and them claiming the right to your intellectial properties posted on their site

Likewise! Any of us that were in the military over the years they had all our info. Then in later years all of us that worked overseas for the gov. had dna samples taken before we left. As you stated..... and I have no issue with it.
