R.I.P to a Goodgirl...my German shepherd Sable..my tribute blog See below...and this may take awhile as I'm crying as I write this |

The house seems empty tonight... My roommate already said... I might as well take those silly things down... She was referring to the bricks I put under my bed post.. I did it because sable good girl loved armystyle crawling under my bed everyday and catching a nap. I feared..being a German shepherd...that this would only hasten the dreaded hip dysplasia.. So I literally raised my bed to give her extra room. And tonight I don't have the heart to remove them. I look at that empty spot under my bed..and know she isn't coming back. Sable was 13yrs old..pretty old for a g.shep..she got the hip problem. Then she developed the uber thirst,followed by the peeing in the house. Followed by waking me up like 4 or 5 times a night to go out to go potty. And I was still cool. I was happy she was around. But then sable lost control of her bladder and even diapers couldn't help. I came home today and my roommate said he was taking sable for one last ride.( to the vet to be put down) She dined on arby roast beef...got to the dog park And I got to hug her one last time before I had to rush back to work...with tears in my eyes I'll miss my buddy... Every time I cook a burger I'll think of sable just gobbling her burger down. I'll miss our mornings together... Sable Good girl lived 13 yrs...and never knew a day without love.. It's more than anyone can hope for.. She always had a full belly and a bed to sleep under. And that is better than most.. Sorry if this gets odd...but I'd say goofy lil things to her.. Goodbye Captain Sable Good Girl of the u.s.s wammerjammer... You were a Good girl.

Tonight I cried writing this.. But I know Sable isn't in pain and playing in Heaven with her brother....titus pullo..super westie.aka..babycat.. And that makes me smile.. Thanks for letting me share this

I’m so sorry for the loss of your wonderful friend. There’s nothing odd about it, it’s all about your relationship with her and how you interacted and saw her. Revel in all she was,… and is. Cheers 😎

You have all my sympathies. It doesn't matter who we love or why, only that when they are gone, there is something missing in our heart. No one can replace them. To bend a quote, they are in a far, far better place than we are.

Maybe you'll become aware of its spirit still under your bed. I'd leave the blocks there. Imagine my surprise when I found out that my opinion actually mattered!

i've known that feeling a number of times in my life. A dog is more than just a companion. In most cases you know you will out live the dog and when it's time it's the right thing to do but it doesn't make it easy. I am so sorry for your loss but Sable left you with wonderful memories. Remember the good times not the last few months of her life. She leaves you but possesses a piece of your heart that will be there forever.
