One of the bloggers brought up Obama's interview where he bashed the press for their obsessive coverage of the sub vs. Lack luster coverage of The migrant boat that sank.

To which I replied...

Imagine if Obama went on his yacht and headed out despite severe weather warnings.

Let's say the boat sank and the ex president went missing..

Would anyone complain about the obsessive media coverage of this event or the cost to the American tax payer? Would anyone compare this coverage to the migrant boat that sank and killed 350 people..?

I'm guessing..
NOPE..

And no matter what side of the political aisle your on...we all want to see Obama returned safe and unharmed..

No One is gonna bring up that tired argument of...omg just another rich guy doing stupid shit...so he gets what he deserves..

No One is gonna counter argue that 350 migrants are equal to obama..

Sorry..they just arent...whether in coverage or resources..

I'm sorry if you really believe people are equal..

But the us navy isn't spending days looking for my remains in the ocean like they would an ex pres..

So let's get back to the sub...

In both cases you have rich people doing risky behavior...

Yet we bash the sub cause....these billionaires...are rich???
And obama..isnt???

Funny how we forget how much the Obama's are now worth..
I mean he isn't working at walmarts..

So people complain poor migrants aren't equal to billionaires and criticize the sub's coverage..

But would we criticize the ,media storm if Obama's yacht sank..

Isn't an ex president more important than an ordinary billionaire..

People aren't equal...and you'd think an ex pres would know this..

He is still quite rich,important,powerful..

He is still privileged

And this isn't a knock on obama...you could easily insert various individuals like trump or Prince Harry etc..

Kinda funny..insert different people in the sub or that ,migrant boat..

And yeah people's opinions change...

So why blame the media

Why blame the media?
Hmmmm.... maybe because it's the same media that will plaster the airwaves when a young, pretty, blond girl goes missing while ignoring the black and brown kids that go missing all of the time.
What's actually important isn't what "the media" wants, its whatever gets eyeballs.

Yes Obama blamed the media...

And tried to make hay out of the social comparison..

Which is odd because his status..

Honestly is more important than yours or mine.

If regular Joe's mcgyvered a sub out of a chicken coop, duct tape, cactus juice and chewing gum..

No navy is gonna come looking for us..

We literally would get less coverage than the migrant ship..

Honestly, dumb asses with a home made sub DESERVE less coverage than the plight of a sinking ship full of migrants.

Surely much of the reason there was so much coverage of the sub was at
the time they thought a rescue might be possible.

In the case of the migrant ship, by the time they knew about it the people were
already dead. Although we now know the same seems to have been true
about the sub occupants, at the time they didn't know that & thought a rescue
might be possible.

In the same way if there's a mining accident & a number of people are killed,
it's only in the news for a short time. But a few years ago there were those miners
who were traped underground, for weeks as I recall, so the news was following
the efforts to effect a rescue.

Just seems logical to me, if the people are dead, there's not much can be done
for them. On the other hand, if there's a chance of rescue, people are going to be
interested. I'm pretty sure those miners weren't rich, but people were still rooting
for them.
