 I cannot imagine there is another business model like this, particularly when the chat does not work or crashes half the time. Hoping to find an alt alternative soon.

 Fetlife gets a lot of mentions although unless I'm missing it there is no chat option. Let me know if you find anything.

 There seems to be no way to earn points either so free members will not be able to use the IM at all
