No it is very unreliable.

as a standard member alt charges 10 points to send a message. There is no guarantee that the person you are sending the message too is online or will reply yet 10 points is still deducted. If I look at my friends list it shows there statues whether they are online or IM, yet when I go to IM they are not there even though my friends list say they are on IM I have stopped sending messages, if I am certain that my point wills not be wasted.

that's why if I'm not in a chatroom chances are I'm not online. I always get a response cause I IM those in a chatroom.

It must be down. Messages go through but there is no one there, but it still costs 10 points to find out it isnt working.

i never even try to use it. Even way back when i first joined (over 5 years ago) it was unreliable. And now they "charge" points to use it.  Frankly, i would rather spend my hard earned points on becoming someone's "fan" so that we can email each other.  My "gurl name" is Kate Coxuker. It is who i am and what i do.

Just paid membership to have IM access to message free users. only to find it don't work. IM's show only as sent never delivered or read.

I have reported this problem to Customer Service (Disservice?) three times. All they do is send a template response in which they persist in saying that they see no problem. They simply suggest that we clear the cache. Well, OK, I did that. Result? Nothing. I paid for a Silver Membership extension for this?

Chat is not working at all. Alt charges 10 points for just trying to establish a chat with another alt member. That's not fair!

Alt's whole platform is so 90's. I know, because I have been a member that long. This is my 3rd profile , and I have had this one since 2002. The early ones were corrupted, and in those days Alt had customer service that actually worked. In my opinion the IM sucked since they added it.

Its always a annoyance, the points just slip away. No answers in the IM and the support is sleeping well around the time

Stop whinging. At least you know IM sucks better than the fake women who have profiles on here.

It’s a white platform that just frustrates and wastes people’s time! Please sort and bring it up to date and truly useable! With so many other free platforms, you must surely be losing out on attracting people to the site??

I never feel that I can rely on IM's here or over on Alternative Lifestyle Singles really tbh, I prefer to chat using messages or better still, via cam - but cam has the most serious issues at the moment as the chat box is greyed-when viewing other members brodcasted cams! (though not for yourself on your own cam, which sadly and unfairly completely hides the problem from people who aren't used to much chat.) I made a poll on the current broadcasting bug myself (here in the magazine and in my blog), though it doesn't appear to be up yet. Re all these current bugs (I know someone who is having sign-in issues too), people of hoping the disclaimer's 'software updating' will actually come noticeably good this time, and alt will finally be at least at the functionality level of AdultFriendFinder!
