Play That Funky Music White Boy  It's a day for some painting of some items in the house, so we are hanging out in the sunshine and jamming out while we work. While meeting new people, I had the pleasure of meeting someone who likes soul and blues. For the most part though, I think I put people off guard with my vast knowledge of music factoids, but I can't help that. I am a certifiable music geek. My parents liked to shag dance. Yes, I do know that means fucking in British, but it is a dance that originated in the Carolinas. The music is stellar and especially if you venture into what the British call Northern Soul. Check out both. I began learning how to shag dance when I was seven. My parents were into going to competitions and what they call S.O.S. at Myrtle Beach. Its a Shag dancers convention. My fondest memory of that is going to a place called Fat Harold's, it's a beach shack of a bar, and watching all the dancers. You could hear their feet slide on the floor because they spread sand on it to make their feet move faster. My brother liked funk music and took me to see Earth, Wind, and Fire for my very first concert at age eight. It always amazed me that people would listen to the white covers of the bands when clearly the African American versions were always better. So while I chill in the sunlight to some good soul and funk, I'll share some with you. I'm not a huge fan, but I do have everything they have ever produced. Rob Parissi can flat play that guitar, and fast. Listening to music is good but it's better for me if I can see where their hands are on the guitar. Good choice in music....Rick

I took dance lesson from Betty Woods. One of the Original Big Apple dances and an original Shagger too. I don't do She also taught Peeling the Peace, which was dancing on the beach sands. Carolina Shag which is more focused n the leader vs. West Coast Swing, which if essentially the same, but the focus is on the follower.. I do Double rhythm Collegiate Shag mostly. There is St Louis Shag, which is externally high energy. Heel Shag (both leader and follower are on same foot(. Single Rhythm Shag. I miss Shag and Lindy Hop. "One Big Sky Covers Us All Equally"

Just for your information I had to listen to 40 minutes of Bruce Hornsby to get Wild cherry out of my head.
