not sexy but imortant

Daddy Papa says I shouldn’t spend my time on stuff like this here but I want to anyways. Neither of us have been vaccinated but we both do all the other stuff that is supposed to keep people safer from the virus. We wash our hands and stay 6 feet from people when we’re out plus we wear masks and try to stay home as much as possible. We do it for our own benefit but we would be the kind of people who did it even if we didn’t think we were at risk ourselves. The news talks a lot about doing it for others even if you don’t for your own self or family or loved ones or whatever and the reason why is often because lots of folks you probably run into on a daily basis are immunocompromised. That means they probably already have something their body is fighting and if they get the virus the chances of fighting it off as well aren’t good because their bodies are already weak and worn out. It means you might get sick and get better but you also might give it to a dozen people along the way and some of them might not make it. Who wants that kind of guilt on their minds? Not us and not you I hope.

You see I’m one of those people whose body is fighting already so I can’t really afford to get sick with Covid on top of it. I wouldn’t make it through alive and I know what that would do to my Father. Dying doesn’t bother me so much but leaving someone I love so dearly and deeply to have to deal with the loss of me seems almost like a betrayal. It’s unbearable to think about so I am just determined to stay alive and healthy. That means protecting myself when we go out which is fine but it’s a shame it feels like I have to protect myself from more people than I should. If everyone was kind and considerate it wouldn’t be so bad but angry people have been doing things like sneezing on someone they’re mad at from the beginning of this whole thing. I don’t want to be attacked by anyone for any reason but certainly not in a way that makes me horribly sick and eventually kills me. That’s what people are saying when they say to heck with the masks and social distancing and stuff. They are saying they don’t care about anybody but themselves and any lives but their own. How selfish! How terrible to be that nasty.

We all deserve a chance to live a healthy happy life and I don’t think being asked or even told to wear a mask in certain situations is such an awful thing. Nobody is making you stay home. Nobody is making you wear a mask at home or in your car only when you get around other people. Heck nobody is making you get vaccinated and I for one am thankful for that. I realize not doing that kind of makes me a hypocrite and my excuses don’t really matter. All I can say in my defense is that I have done and continue to do everything else. Refusing to do one thing is maybe not as bad as refusing to do all things. Or maybe I’m trying to justify being just as bad as the people I am disparaging. I only know my intentions and they are good. Can others refusing to wear their masks or take other precautions say the same?

Hey Punkin a well written post explaining your feelings.

Well being an older guy, and having underlying medical issues, I know that if I contract this virus, especially the delta variant, I would not stand much chance of surviving, and it is for that reason I have gotten fully vaccinated. I would hate to lose you from my Alt life, and I would hate for you to lose your Papa, so please consider getting jabbed. There are different types so there must be a type that works for each of you. The other thing is that if you are jabbed, and do catch the virus, it ends up being more like the flu and a whole lot less dangerous, with increased chances of recovery.
