My father in law died quickly in his favorite chair watching the Cosby show. At the funeral, my father told my wife "At least he died quickly" My wife was mad as hell because he died too quickly, and she didn't get to say goodbye. When my mother died I was able to get down there before she passed. When I got there she was alert and they were going to move her out of intensive care. I was scheduled to make a trip to see her next week, so I saw no reason to say goodbye in the hospital with my father there and went back home.. After I got home I called the hospital and found she was back in intensive care. When I got back to FL she was unconscious on a ventilator and passed away when we pulled the plug. By Florida law my father had to be placed into assisted living. After he moved in I had made plans to see him for 1 week from the 11th to 18th On the 8th he was hospitalized and when I got there he was unconscious on a ventilator and passed away when we pulled the plug.

In the months before I did everything I could to go down to visit, or have someone go down, and look in on them. I had used up all my leave time going down that going into work during a snow storm forced me to look into retirement. I retired when I found my pension would be almost the amount of my salary. I regret not retiring earlier to take care of them and not having the chance to say goodby to my parents.

Love that you're doing it and the quote at the end is fantastic!

"Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”
