Silence its a killer,,,,of many things Silence: wow,,it says a lot. How do you expect one to respond after an extended amount of silence? Yes, life gets in the way, but life does go forward too! A few words help to alleviate doubts and any questions. Why do some think the world stops rotating if they fall silent? Just more of my randomness. ~hush |

Some think silence, i.e. ignoring or discontinuing communication is a form of punishment. Which are quite different than a specified time out or go to your room without TV, Radio, Video games or some sort of restriction which has a specified time. Any decent dominant will not do the ignoring or refusing to communicate thing. It leaves a submissive feeling abandoned. Which in due time ends the relationship in most cases. Silence: wow, it says a lot. And it's all bad. When someone 'ghosts' or falls silent, I think it's one of the most rude things a person can do. Moving on? Just say so and go your merry way. I agree. I've had it happen several times and it always amazes me that someone you've formed a certain amount of relationship with would do that. I don't understand such people ..... Make Women Female Again

Silence is the most common tool for the weak and cowards. It hurts like hell and it is never, but never the right thing to do to someone, anyone. Decent people don't go around hurting and destroying other people.

During Victorian times placing children in "Coventry" was a common and accepted form of punishment, to the extent of treating them as "Persona non grata". What we know of the effects on mental development now is that it was one of the most damning practices of the times. I had a friend who grew up in Germany (1940s), and it was a common practice to lock kids in closets and leave them there for extended periods - more than a day. His brothers and sisters were pretty bent from their up bringing, he was a compulsive drinker.
