And vice versa - what you hate about them is probably missing in you. Think about it...

ENVY may not be the root of all evil but it is still BAD ...

ExNameForUse replies on 1/15/2022 8:43 am:
I think envy can be not only toxic but dangerous as well, especially when coming from the ignorants with high self-esteem.

Wonder how many wouldn't realize that on their own?

Not many, I think.

If we would spend Less time worrying what others think of us, we’d realize how seldom they do

That is also true.

I see this one as a double edged sword .... That is to say it can be interpreted in a couple of different ways. I think most people would interpret it as someone being jealous of a trait you possess - A trait missing in them.
They covet what they lack.

On the other side of the coin, it may be a very undesirable trait in you ( doubtful ) or another person. For example, 'What they hate in you ( thief, liar, cruel, dishonest, wretched, etc., etc. ) is missing in them. Perhaps a call for some 'self reflection'?

ExNameForUse replies on 1/15/2022 9:13 am:
Not sure if I understood all till the end, Plz.
It can be both something good and/or bad what we 'hate' in otheres, and vice versa, both good and/or bad what somebody 'hates' in us.
It depends on once own morals. What I find being good, like lets say persistance, and I think it is one of my good attributes, someone else might see as stubborness, and think it is my downside.
I would say it may easily happen that person is lacking own persistance, hence will try to discredit mine and label it as something else. Or I can do the same, doesnt matter really, I am not perfect either.
But whatever the case is, self reflection is always a good thing, yet not everyone has a capacity for it.

Making you the bad guy makes the haters satisfied......but are they really!

ExNameForUse replies on 1/15/2022 8:59 am:
Haters will always be haters, no matter what and how you do.
I think its about them, and their misery, which should not stop you from 'shining' as you usualy do.

Hate can be all-consuming and as such is a waste of precious time alive.

ExNameForUse replies on 1/15/2022 9:02 am:
It is. And it most of the time has nothing to do with the object of that hatered, but haters own feeling of being inadequate, incomplete, miserable and unhappy.

Hate is such a strong word, sometimes people use the word hate when
they mean dislike.
Either way, I try not to hate or dislike anyone unless they give me a really
good reason to do so.
I'm not sure I agree entirely that if I hate/dislike someone it's something
missing in me, although it might be in some cases.
I dislike cruelty to animals, (or people come to that), if that means I lack
meaness - good! Even then I try to reserve any hate or dislike for the
act, not the person.

In one of your replies you mentioned persistence & stubborness.
It has been said our strengths, taken to the extreme, become weaknesses.

Keep shining Ex

ExNameForUse replies on 1/16/2022 1:32 am:
Hate is a word from that meme I shared. I have hoped no clarification is needed that it can be also about not understanding, not approving, not liking, criticizing, or as Brendy brilliantly named it – envy, it could be easily about secret admiration for something we are not capable of, etc, you name it.
It is not also a rule, but yes, there is an option that what we dislike, very often very passionately, about others, could be that we feel and know it is something we don’t have, or can't do.
As Plz suggested, each time it is a call for a self-reflection if we have enough capacities to do it and then to understand better why we feel that 'hate' towards something or someone. Anyway, it is easier to 'hate', criticize, judge, or whatever else, than to understand, yourself first, and then the others.

The example with persistence is just an example. Being persistent and being stubborn are different things.
But someone who would like to be persistent, but has no capacity for that, could easily discredit persistence in someone else or in general, call it stubbornness, so any further effort is now not needed, as stubbornness is not something to strive for and the persistent person has now become someone we don’t have to respect or admire, not even secretly.
Anyhow, persistent one will keep shining while the other one will still be lacking persistence no matter how it has been put…
You won’t stop the sun from shining, no matter how you name it, discredit it, or whatever else.
Nor the sun should consider changing the level of its brightness, just because it is too bright for someone else

Ex

This is so true! It is the cause of many gay-hate bashings! People hate themselves , perhaps , not quite the same but close...

ExNameForUse replies on 1/16/2022 1:37 am:
Darling Jenny, unfortunately, there are people that will judge rather than educate and understand. And even if their opinion is different from the opinion of the majority, many will remain quiet because of the fear of rejection.
It is a perpetual circle of mediocrity, ignorance, and fear.

Hate, fear, are emotions that are close together, i believe...

you could call something hate, but is actually fear, for that thing in the other...
does that make sense?

It is in all of us, i think..... In some way or an other... big or small...

Having selfesteem, love for your self, be able to be, feel thankfull, are the good quailties i believe....

ExNameForUse replies on 1/16/2022 4:09 am:
I would agree Rosa with your last sentence.
With those qualities, one can be quite happy and live a fulfilled life, and with no need to fear of, or hate anything about anyone else.
So to me, it does make sense what you wrote, and I thank you for your thoughts.
