Sometimes, when I think of some past events, the words of Vincent Van Gogh do come to my mind - "Sadness will last forever"... it is only that we learn to live with it I suppose, hopefully with some flashes of joy every now and then.

Hi, very pleasant to find your writing this morning. I am grateful to feel the spirit. I am reminded of a thought a friend of mine said to me over ten years ago. He said, "relaxation is the only thing that is infinite" ... he seemed to enjoy the idea that he was very wise. He might have been. Sometimes he seemed very wise. Anyway yada... hope you don't mind my entering in . i wish you a beautiful day

Family... as a synonym for warmth and coziness, home, scent of freshly baked cake..... [image] I remember those Sunday meals out at Grandpa and Grandma's when I was a kid. Those memories will live forever in my mind...... Make Women Female Again

You have not failed... Failure is when you give up, not when one gives in or change one's path. Proof is you still care and love... Nice socks too!

As a kid, Sundays were late breakfast, AKA brunch before they called it brunch. Homemade waffles, fresh berries, real maple syrup, reading the Sunday funnies from the newspaper places on the floor, eggs of some sort, sausage, fresh squeezed juice, hot coffee. Some music in the background. Possibly a walk or trip to someplace in the afternoons. "One Big Sky Covers Us All Equally"

Hi, I enjoy reading your BLOG or BLOGS, with the feeling and openness with which you write them. This one hit home, sort of, as I had similar experiences with my children after my divorce. But the one thing that ALWAYS rang true for ME, was "I did the BEST I could to bring the 'family feeling' of Sundays (as well as any Holidays and Birthdays I spent with my children)" and I think if you ask yourself if you did the same, and the answer is 'yes', or even a HESITANT 'I THINK so', then that's all you have to KNOW. My children are all grown, married and have been on their own for a while now, and when this subject came up a few times, they always answered with the same resounding response, "You did GREAT, Dad, and we were ALWAYS aware of the circumstances, and we LOVE that you cared ENOUGH to make the EFFORT!!!" which, of course, always brought a tear to my eye, but I knew they were telling me the truth and not just what I wanted to hear, and that's GOOD enough for me. If you did the best you could with what you had to work with, what more can ANYONE ask, so don't second guess yourself, and go enjoy the rest of the Sunday afternoon! 1246032

I love those socks! I dont think you have failed, i think you did the best, in the circumstances you had to deal with. As i had, with my daugther... sure it did hurt a lot, and it felt like a loss or failure... In those times, in those curmunstances i could not have done it any other way. And, we all, get damaged, on the way to become a grown-up, i believe, in some ways..

Ex Families can be both a great joy or and great trial! Sometimes, it is better not to see the difficult ones despite the pain! A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny
