I almost always am awake before 5 AM.Unless, for some reason I stayed up after 10:30 PM. Either way, I usually get a nap in now days. Basically, of late with a darn allergy and the resulting in congestion, i simply do not sleep well through the night.

My advice, not that anyone would follow it, et a job closer to home if you can. 90 minute commute is too much of the day to lose. Of course if you take a book or laptop computer you can catch up on reading, the news, music or maybe even a movie. Or, et a hypnotist to give you a post hypnotic suggestion that allows you to fall asleep fr about an hour on that public transport. I had that done years ago when I was flying around the country quite a bit. Time changes and such messed with my sleep then, So those naps helped.

Unfortunately, getting another job closer to where I live is not an option... so having naps during that commute time, or reading, which I do sometimes if I have a place to sit, and not standing on the bus, will be my options and of course as of recently going rather early to bed and catching enough sleep... just another 12-13 years till I retire

The funny thing is that on weekends when I am free to sleep as long as I want I wake up at around 7, 7.30... I guess my body clock is simply now used to an early start... apart from the fact that we have over 30C deg temps here and most busses are not with a/c, I am fine now when I am home and had a shower, and it is good that I have an a/c in the office... so, all in all, all is good and I hope the same goes for you too, BDD

Back when I was chasing the carrot, I awakened atv4:30 or before to start work at 6. Thankfully I only had max 30 minutes on surface streets but I drove an averagec100 miles a day doing strip mall maintenance. But I got off relatively early most days. Even when I started at 7 Am I still got up at 4:30. Only since I am semi retired I sleep in, most of my customers aren't into me showing up so early lol. But I get how it is. Most of my life I've worked construction so being up early was expected. Be whom you are, the right one will make allowances if they want to be you.

"Be whom you are, the right one will make allowances if they want to be you." - this was my thinking when I said for the first time I can not make it any longer to stay up late every evening with only 4, 5 hours of sleep... it has been taken into account, or so I have been said...

I experience sort of the same.
People all wanting to go out and party all day and night long?!
Why? lol
i am a homy person, i dont need public attention to bé someone, or something like that, i dont need to be seen, by others, to know, i am living my life...?!

I like structure in my day and night times, although i officially dont 'work' anymore, i do a lot of volenteers work... wich is sometimes mentally very heavy, hard...
I do take naps if i am able, i love my naps....

I heard today, it is very good for your brain to take naps, it even can help against getting dementia.... keeps your brain strong, healthy.

You have to be willing to give, before you can take.....
it is all so superficial, nowadays, or so it seems....

I had an unpleasant conversation with my niece last week... we used to hang out a lot, but for the last two years she can't find the time... unless it is at the time that suits her and her schedule... it is how it used to be before... but I simply can not do that anymore... I just can't sit late in the evening anymore, I am just too tired for that... invited her many times over the last two years to come to my place for lunch or dinner over the weekend, or to go out instead at my place, invited her to a few concerts and a theatre a few times too... she rejected all... when she suggested last week to go out on Thursday evening and I said I can't, its the end of the week and I am tired, but if we could just leave it for the coming weekend... I have been told she wants to sleep over the weekend and have other plans... so be it...
Just one of the examples.

Before retirement I was at work by 6:30 and that was after a 45 min drive. When I got home was usually a mystery since corporate meetings were always held at 5:00 pm. At any given time, I was on a plane visiting a supplier so that just threw off the whole time thing. In those days it was......love me, love my job.

ExNameForUse replies on 6/22/2023 11:31 am:
I used to work at a rather demanding executive office, but I always managed to find the time for those important to me... whether it was to send a text, replay to a text, or talk, luckily I am as they say a multitasking girl and it was not a problem for me... but there were days when I was just overwhelmed whether with work, or just not having a good day, or not enough sleep and being exhausted... hence not chatty enough or as it was expected... it was interesting to see how all those days when you were "available", and "chatty" disappeared for that one time I wasn't.
It was when I realized a simple truth it is not the way how it should be when you care for someone.

I have always gotten up early... 45 minute drive to work, after shower and such, breakfast, on the clock by 6:00 for 12 and 16 hour shifts. Remember, one day you won't be getting up... so why lay down long now? My theory!

ExNameForUse replies on 6/22/2023 11:37 am:
The theory is good if it doesn't affect what you perform at work or your overall physical and mental condition. I simply need more hours of sleep, like at least 6, preferably 7 hours, to be well the next day.
I tried your theory, but after a few months, I was running out of fuel, so to say... it affected my health, my mood, my look with dark circles around my eyes, daily headaches, and anxiety... it didn't work well for me...

I can't go to sleep before 1 am so 5 am seems damn unhealthy.

I wanted to meet everyone's needs and wants and been going to sleep between midnight and 1 am... but after a few months, I wasn't feeling well anymore...

I am an early riser too; unless it is for something worth it to me, I am winding down by 8p. *meh* if boys don't like it, then they are simply not for me. I need decent sleep, otherwise, I wear my cranky-pants, and Ex, no one wants that.

ExNameForUse replies on 6/22/2023 11:42 am:
It is true, IM... I simply need decent sleeping time, or I am becoming someone I don't even like, let alone where I work I still have to look decent and do some work with no mistakes... so I just stopped being generous with my time... it is what it is

I get to sleep in until 0530 seven days a week. Then it's time to get up, feed the cats and walk the dogs. One of our cats is a very precise alarm clock and normally starts trying to get me up anywhere from 0400 on.... Ugh.

Given the 0530 mornings, I rarely stay up later than 11 PM. That gives me 6 1/2 hours sleep, but I also generally take an hour nap around 5 PM.

We must be as boring as you are!!!!

We're worse .... We're boring seven days a week.

ExNameForUse replies on 6/22/2023 11:50 am:
I like my naps when I am on the bus... they take off the edge a bit so I can go through the rest of the day easily... but still need to be in bed by 10, so that I catch a glimpse of my tv or read a few pages of my book, which will then send me to sleep...
The remaining two days are for all those beautiful teasing tempting stuff like laundry, dusting, vacuuming... okay, and some toy time too every now aand then.... they don't complain about anything

That way, it is a one way street, that should not be the case, When you care for each other.
You should have as much joy in getting out as your niece does, this way, it does not work, alas...
Too bad, your niece does not seem to value your time as much as she does hers....
It is as is it.
