I agree with drmgirl, I rarely have visitors but I've often thought if I am suddenly gone my only daughter is in a for shock. I like to think she will think better of me then. Lol

Unless you have a room under multiple padlocks and keys, there is no safe place other than wide out in the open.

My grand kids get into everything. I even have to lock the dial on my safe or they will spend all night trying to open it. I lock up my computer in the safe too.

Not that I do this, but between the mattress and box springs is probably quite safe. Well, unless your son enjoys making beds?
Oooo .... Good thinking? Keep it ( them ) near the edge in case you need to reach down and get one while you're laying in bed and the 'urge' strikes....
