It's a good book if someone feels like reading these days

I believe there are many women that feel that way. The thing they don't realize is they are jewels.

Howling at the moon and mal ad osteo.

ExNameForUse replies on 7/17/2023 11:43 am:
I don't even know what to say to this, JL. You have more experience, so you probably know better and have seen and met those precious pieces of jewels...

Though I'm aware these are Lara Prescott's words this time, Ex, you, however, would not need a second --a deeper--good look from me to gain my admiration. Such would only reinforce it . You would have already rivetted my attention when I passed you on the street or sat next to you on a bus. You have a way of impressing yourself indelibly upon my mind, and, as I am sure, the minds of others, lucky enough to have benn touched by (or to have been drawn into) your selfless and empathetic aura. Enjoyed the illustration, as well--so fittingly representative of the embodiment of lastingly stored secrets...

ExNameForUse replies on 7/17/2023 11:46 am:
Thank you kindly, subdude, for your words and sentiment... I am far more ordinary than you have put it, but it makes me smile to think I could be actually seen in a way as you described...

I often think invisible is best!

Dear Arty, staying under the radar is sometimes far better than anything else, especially for introverted observant creatures like this girl is

Thank you for the book recommendation, I will put it on my list.

I like being invisible to the masses, looming in and out whilst out in public. Though, this is not always the case. I am not a fan of a lot of attention, rather just appreciating it only from the important few.

Ars longa, vita brevis - Art is long, life is short

You are very welcome, dear IM, I hope you will enjoy reading once the time comes... gaining attention and approval is not really my thing either. I am pretty insular and can live without any, as a matter of fact...

I try to be invisible, most of the time..
I dont like unwanted "attention" from men, especially......

But, alas, even in the big city Amsterdam, i was not invisible.....
Somehow i do stand out, i dont know how, because i dont do anything to stand out, at all.
I am just me.
Beautiful painting, i will look into that book... thank you,

ExNameForUse replies on 7/17/2023 12:28 pm:
I would think you stand out because you are being you, you are who you are, Roas as you said, you are an authentic individual, and that always stands out

I find you to be a beautiful person. Long have i know, it is the beauty of the sol that counts, the outside wrapping is a bonus. If you were iin a crowded airport, train station or whatever, I may not notice you immediately, but I would surely find you by how you carried yourself.

just a thought. If you enjoy art check out The Helga Pictures, its an art book of Andrew Wyeth. He did the paintings secretly over a 30 year period....of his 'housekeeper'

ExNameForUse replies on 7/17/2023 12:01 pm:
Many thanks for the recommendation, I will surely have a look and possibly share some of his art here with others.

Ex,

With that attitude, you might miss many an admiring glance.

ExNameForUse replies on 7/17/2023 12:09 pm:
I had a thought like that a few times, Grywolf... and then I thought I can't go against my nature. If it is meant to be, someone will notice... the way I walk, my attitude, posture, the wording in my sentences, the way I hold my hands as I sit, or while I talk, or how I smile, or you know... just anything else about me... and if that catches someone's eye or ear... maybe somehow they will find the way to let me know I am appreciated for being exactly who I am... if not... well... it's not meant to be...
I am surrounded by many people where I work, and I see a lot of competition going on there, not only within a framework but among ladies... how they dress, whose attention they will gain, etc... when I see that, my first instinct is to withdraw myself from that competition... you know, like here you are, you are winning and I am out of this game...

ExNameForUse replies on 7/17/2023 12:22 pm:
Dear Dreamy, knowing you would have me as your lunch body makes me smile and happy... thank you so much for your kind words. I hope you know by now it would be my honor and pleasure to do so any time in this lifetime...

ExNameForUse replies on 7/17/2023 12:34 pm:
Not in my real life, dear Boh. I have my dear friends here, they respond to my thoughts, doubts, and what's going on in my life, and I guess I have gained some dear good friends here... it is such a shame I won't meet them ever in real life because they know more about me than anyone around me... it is why I love this place, and people here... this is where I am seen.

Ex

I agree with what Jonny L said! So called "invisible people" usually have great depth unlike most showy ones!!

I am always a bit hesitant about those who have the need to show off on a regular basis, dear Jenny... where does that need for attention and validation come from, or is it a cover for an empty vessel beneath the surface presented...

If life is a circus, and You are the clown, you are far from invisible
and you are making others happy...

ExNameForUse replies on 7/17/2023 12:58 pm:
When you are a clown, in a circus, people see a costume, makeup, the show... just the clown... and if that makes them happy, it means the performance was successful. They haven't still seen the performer, only his role...

Hi! I've been on and off here several times in the last three plus years, and have enjoyed riding your blogs. This particular one kinda struck a chord with me, and I think there are varying thoughts on this particular subject, without any one of them being the considered the 'right' answer. I've seen the prettiest girl at the dance never get asked because all the guys thought she'd say "NO" to them, and there's always those (women or men) that dress to the nines to attract someone to them. The sitcom "Seinfeld" did an episode where the woman Jerry dated in the episode looked GREAT in bright lighting, but not so great in low lights ( I thought she was BEAUTIFUL in either, but, of course, that would ruin the gist of the title of the episode (The two face). I think it's ABUNDANTLY true that BEAUTY is in the eye of the beholder, physical beauty is only skin deep, so, if I was ever seated next to you, on the subway, a train, a plane or a bus, instead of judging you by your physical appearance, I'd have to strike up conversation with you to try and get you to reveal your 'inner beauty' that doesn't ALWAYS shine through for most of us, and for some of us, it's takes the beholder's imagination, sometimes, to actually see what others don't, sort of like "sea glass", know what I mean, Ex? Maybe I've been alone too long, who knows...1250845

ExNameForUse replies on 7/18/2023 10:09 am:
Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, I completely agree with you. The extract from the book I shared somehow struck a chord with me as it is how I felt my whole life - not attracting attention in any other way but with the simplicity in my appearance, attitude, or whatever else. It takes a sharp eye to notice the simplicity and maybe, just maybe see through and maybe try to find out what's underneath... but I am pretty much invisible still or it is my own perception of my own being.
