One of the absurdities I live in is that I so love to travel but I stopped traveling as I thought it would be silly to do that alone... I think I am reaching the peak of that absurdity and that some nice travel plan for next year is about to see the daylight very soon... enough is enough, so at least somewhere close to go would be great to start with
Do you like to travel?

For sure, I am going to Ireland, Then on hopefully to the Rhine cruise with an old buddy, Paris with an old roommate/renter, Crete to see my best friends who moved there this year. Eur rail ass I suspect. Hope to meet you in those travels if they happen. Budget is always a factor. But if you ever decide to visit the US, you will have a place to stay here. Should have my Air B & B completed before the first of the year. No charge to friends,

DD, your itinerary sounds great to me... I do hope we will figure out a way to meet while you are in Europe... and thank you for your extremely kind invitation and for offering me the place to stay if I ever visit the US... It warms my heart to know I have such a friend like you, DD

Some delusions find a home and refuse to just fall away.

I guess it depends on the strain.

Will be heading to Europe to see one of the children and spouse and four of my grandchildren, and plan on meandering back, stopping and staying at places I have seen in movies, read about in books and dreamed about in my head. Hope they are as VIVID in real life as they have been in my dreams and that the folks I encounter are friendly...

That is a wonderful plan! I hope and wish for you to have a lovely time with your family and enjoy all the places you plan to visit... just perfect!

Absolutely. I love to travel. I love to travel alone and at times with someone else. Sometimes I need my alone adventures, and I still hold out hope for a travel pet.

Oh Ex, don't wait. Do it!!! Enjoy while you can.

I think I am a coward, Inderio, if I am honest... Whenever I think of traveling lately, I see myself, alone, there.. wherever that may be... and then when I should book a trip for example to Prague now in December... I am finding all sorts of reasons why would it be bad to go alone... I think I am just afraid of something I have never done before... and I think once I do it for the first time... I may actually like it ... thank you for the last line, IM... sometimes I need to hear those simple words, just as those of yours

I was planning to visit my nephew & his lady in Canada.
Then Covid struck! Now that's much less of a problem, I should
dust those plans off again.

I would like to do more traveling now I have more time.
Like you, I have been reluctant to do so on my own.

ExNameForUse replies on 10/21/2023 1:41 pm:
Please go and see them... that is not too far from you, right? I mean it's not another continent... I think we will be sorry one day if we don't start doing things we always wanted soon ...

ExNameForUse replies on 10/21/2023 2:01 pm:
Or actually, it is another continent, I am sorry... now I see you are from the UK... you know, I tried two times to get a visa for the UK, and was refused... I really wanted to go there, but also to return home... but they didn't believe me
Go to Canada, Dave... if you can, go...

I like it when I'm at the destination. The traveling to, not so much.

ExNameForUse replies on 10/21/2023 1:44 pm:
I used to be like you... the travel itself used to make me anxious and I didn't like it... then I just decided that the travel itself IS part of my vacation too... and I can enjoy it as well... and I did, enjoyed every little bit from packing my bags till unpacking them when I got back home

i like to be on the move, yes. where are you thinking of traveling?

ExNameForUse replies on 10/21/2023 1:56 pm:
I wanted to begin with the places closest to where I live so... that would be Budapest/Hungary, Prague/Czech Republic, Hallstatt Lake/Austria (been in Vieann a couple of times already), Krakov/Poland, Istanbul/Turkey, Italy and that is more than just Rome, as it is a lovely country and would love to go there more than once visiting Venezia, Florence, Milan, Sicily, Cinque Terre..., After that I would go a little further... to the west... Holland, France, Portugal and Spain on southwest and to the north... Norway, Sweden, etc... I guess if I am careful with my finances in next 3-4 years I could make it... even if in 5 years I would be more than happy

It sounds like fun, Ex. It also sounds like it would really make you happy. I love to travel. I've been all over. I really want to go back to Portugal. That will definitely be in my plans in the near future. xx

Traveling was always on my wish list, but there was always something to spoil the plans... when I finally could afford it, my son and I started our adventures, and after a few travels, Covid came.. so we were again stopped... now, after all that happened over the last few years and being back on my feet, almost, I think it would be about time to do it, even if it is on my own... maybe that won't be such a bad choice of companion for travels in the end

For some reason, the photo reminds me of Audrey Hepburn. She had such beautiful facial lines. I just have to listen to her sing 'Moon River' in the movie 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' now.

Watching her sing the song was great - Thanks for the thought! Some of the lyrics seem to apply to your blog...

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see

You're only one drifter, but I think you'll appreciate the thought. Listen to Audrey sing this song in the movie clip - I guarantee you'll enjoy.

Traveling is enlightening, I love it! I am wanting to go travel around South America, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru... covid put it off, but I have learned more Spanish...

Those are countries I will never be able to afford to visit, but if you can, and now with your improved Spanish, I hope you will go... among all sorts of ways to spend the time, I think traveling is the most rewarded, as you mentioned rewards in one of my previous posts

I love to travel. I can't say I go that far from home but when that travel bug hits I get all anxious. Now when I was working there wasn't a month that I wasn't on an airplane traveling somewhere for business.

ExNameForUse replies on 10/22/2023 2:11 am:
All anxious is exactly what I have started to feel recently when I realized I am done with setting the place where I live, that I am alone, and that I do not want to change that any time soon... so when I gave it a thought what now... what was that I always wanted to do but something would come up... there was the answer - travels... I am in the process of researching and evaluating the offers on the market and hopeful I will have some basic plan soon enough ...
I hope you will get a chance to visit Italy, Dreamy... I read in one of your comments that you would love to... and if you ever do, please let me know... I would love to share a cappuccino, pasta, or pizza, and a nice stroll with you and meet you, my friend... Italy is not that far from me

I like to travel on my own, on my own, as a woman, i met such nice people.
Who were all very interested in why i was traveling on my own, ( in Portugal,)

Wanted me to stay at their home, no creep acts at all.
Wanted to protect me, or something like that.
Every where i came, they wanted to know, where my husband was...
and admired me, for traveling on my own.

(i am not afraid )
It is a great way of exploring the world, yourself and the other.

ExNameForUse replies on 10/22/2023 2:18 am:
I know you do, Rosa... and I can't admire you enough for how brave in my eyes you are, for your enthusiasm, and for how much joy and effort you are putting in the process of preparing to travel to Portugal now... I know I could never do that, ever...
I am more into traveling with a group since I will be going alone, and having someone I can rely on in case of emergency there... The last time I went to Vienna like that it was really good, the group was great, and there was enough time to be on my own as well besides visiting some places with a guide and the group... that works for me and 3 to 4 days is enough for each place/city to see, eat, walk and feel the basic atmosphere of it... thats what my plans are about

I hope I will go somewhere very soon, Jeny, thank you

Ex,
Funny,
In that point we differ, i cant stand traveling in groups, have a rather big dislike of groups, that is also why i dont like to go to those horrible munches, that hive mind thing!
That instantly comes over the majority of those attending those munches, Brrr....amp;
Or high school mentallity.. amp;

I am glad you do like to travel with a group and find your own time and space too.
That is your strength!

ExNameForUse replies on 10/22/2023 3:44 am:
I have never been to a munch, nor that I wish to... I am pretty antisocial in that way... do not like any sort of gatherings... when it comes to travels, being part of a group gives me that sense of safety, that I am not all alone there, but also a space to actually be on my own... if this makes any sense, but I hope you know what I mean

I love travelling. Experiencing new places, new people and new cultures.

I do far less of it these days as Mrs Fleeting isn't physically able and so much of my time is otherwise engaged. But, I do miss it. There was a time when living in Hawaii we considered purchasing a rather large cargo vessel to run independent shipments in the Pacific. But, we ended up going another way.

Hope you enjoy your travels. Stay safe.

I was looking around for your address to send a Christmas card. In all my remodeled work, I keep moving stuff around. So unless you refresh me with that info in my private blog. I won't be able to send one.

And, I am a bit worried about you. You have not posted anything in weeks. I do so hope you are just busy and are well physically and emotionally.
