This has made me laugh loud, so true... the fact is I won't even be their boss, only a closer associate to their boss, and yet... it is enough for some of them to change their attitude. I almost feel embarrassed about their behavior. |

A wise person told me once to treat everyone nice on the way up the ladder since you never know who you might meet on the way back down the ladder. It appears you treated everyone with respect and now those that once shunned you have some crow to eat

Wise words indeed. My problem is that my attitude is always the same with everyone... but people around me change theirs based on where I used to work or will work now... people don't get that, and many don't like that... It is what makes me walk with my head up at every situation or workplace I have been through... there is a saying here not to fly high when all is good and not to crumble when things are not so good... because circumstances change, but we still need to be decent human beings... |

Been through similar situations, working with larger corporations. Funny how it can come back to reward one, and actually did, both ways. I love it when the squeky wheel gets greased, but still falls off...lol

People are strange creatures... some are so mean in their engines that it literally puts me in a fight or flight mode... I hate drama at work... we have to be there for 8 hours or more, so why make that time more difficult than it has to be... |

I was thinking of myself at my previous work while I had that spare time over the last year... I was so devoted, DD. Always available. Working over hours. Working at home. In whole honesty, I am not that person anymore. I have changed, what happened when they said I needed to leave in an hour's time because the new girl is coming... you know... you can't be the same after that... so, yes, I am pleased about this change, but not that I am as enthusiastic as I used to be... everything can be and will be done, but not at my cost. The only problem might be the people, they may obstruct me, or try to, but I believe when they get used to this change everything will be just fine... |

Yes, big companies can become a wasp nest, never liked those structures... inner workings, kissing on their way up, kicking everyone below, in their back...

Congrats, your experience got me thinking about a memory of my own.
When I was selling used cars I worked with this guy and we disliked each other at first sight. He and I mixed like oil and water. He was a good friend of the manager at the time and he would bad mouth me to him and got me fired.
I ended up working at the dealer next door and in a few years became finance director.
One day this guy walked into my office and said he just started at my place in used cars and asked me whether even though we had our issues would I be willing to bury the hatchet. I had some quick thoughts of how I could mess with him as my position could control the money he could make and the deals that he would be paid on.
I surprised myself and just said, okay, welcome aboard.
When he walked out I was thinking of that old adage, when you seek revenge dig two graves.
He was very, very pleasant after that but I still couldn't stand the f_ck.

I just hate the idea of revenge. Why bother? What I do in those kinds of situations is just minding my own business and let things unfold on their own, cause it always happens in the end.
And for many people who did me wrong, I think the worst "revenge", if we can call it that way, was me being there when they needed it. You can't beat evil with evil. |

Well, it seems like it was a nice, albeit not wanted break. Now on to bigger and better things. Yes, while things will get done, be sure that it is not at your expense. They made it clear that you were not very important to them by last year's events. Now you know. And the others... now you know that too. Easier to choose carefully.

Dear IM, you have summed it up perfectly... it is exactly what I had in mind when I wrote in my response to DD that I am not overly enthusiastic or excited now... yes it is a good change as I will have a little more work to do, and I like to know I have actually been working something and possibly achieved something today, contributed... so to speak... but now I know that if someone decides, I will be out again... because, unfortunately, what we perform is not the main criteria there...
