Ex This too is true and beautiful! So many wealthy people are very miserable! A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny

Money may help in a comfortable life style but does not guarantee true happiness/richness in friendships and the joy of one's surrounding. Great posting for the none material people.

I am gloriously rich First thing in the morning I get up, go to a mirror and smile because I have a new day! I am rich because I have a roof over my head, food to eat, owe no one and I can smile and do often

I am looking forward to enjoying all these luxuries now, finally at the point where I can

I can relate to your feelings, Ex. My living space is designed around simple luxuries, such as antique lamps, tables, and an old desk. These items have a unique charm that adds character to my space. The lamps cast a warm, comforting light, the tables are sturdy and functional, and the old desk has a timeless beauty that inspires me. I feel incredibly rich because I am able to appreciate the simple things in life. I can immerse myself in a good book and lose myself in its story. I have the freedom to choose what I want to do with my time, whether it's pursuing a hobby or spending time with loved ones. And when I wake up in the morning to a gorgeous sunrise, I am filled with a sense of wonder and gratitude. These small joys give me a sense of happiness and contentment that money can't buy. They remind me that life is about appreciating the beauty around us and finding joy in the simple moments. Great Topic, xx~M "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. I am no "rich" financially. And frankly, as long as I have enough o have a roof over my head, decent food to eat, clean cloths & basic health that is just fine. But, I am rich with good memories (I tend to not dwell on the negative things which happened to me), rich with friends around the world and of course locally, I think I am reasonably sane and not a problems to others, I am not sedentary at this point in my life (and hope to never be) so I have my health. Having nearly died with some health issues, which I obviously survived, my life is rich. i am alone these days, but hardly ever feel lonely. I have had a charmed life. still alive, still with that tiny spark for life and joy. A 'tiny' spark for life and joy? Stop it!! You have a huge spark for life and joy ... Perhaps you just have a hard time admitting it to yourself. Your words remind me of a caterpillar that's turned into a beautiful butterfly. You've shed your old possessions, some friends and portions of your life to get to where you are today - Totally free to be YOU. When I scrolled down the meme of The Real Luxuries, I was expecting to get to one of the best luxuries of all .... Of course that would be 'orgasms'. Perhaps that is located in Appendix A? Very well said.. If only more folks would realize what true luxuries were and stop the greed, the world would be a much better place! I find that the simple life is the best.. You did a great job of encapsulating what those luxuries are with this posting!! Again well said!

Love your take on life and luxury! I've often said the richness of life is having learned to appreciate things that don't cost you money. Like a lot of the things you mentions and listed, and things like the sweet smell of honeysuckle in bloom along a country road I'm on with the windows down, the way the world smell just after a heavy rain, the laughter of small children playing, the scent of the beach most anywhere in the world and the feel of the soft sand as I walk init at the beach, Seeing and hearing birds of prey (Falcons, Hawks, Owls, and Eagles, that are seldom seen because they're so stealthy and somewhat elusive 'loners' in the wild and watching them on the hunt, nature in general in all it's splendor, all around us, and so much more. Having the TIME AND WHERE WITH ALL to take it all in, is, of course HUGE, as well. And you're right, whether it's clothing or some furniture, area rugs, painting/works of art, the quality shine through regardless of age compared to SO MANY things that are sold today. With age and personal experiences and the freedom to choose, we are supposed to gain wisdom, but, unfortunately, nor everyone does, or as a friend of mine's dad use to tell us, "It takes some folks LONGER to mature than others, but they will eventually get there. And still, others will always remain clueless..." Well stated and well written, Ex! Thanks for sharing!

Great writing, Ex. The greatest things in life are free. The freedom to choose. When i think, i want something, i always consider its use.. When i cant afford it, it was not ment for me, anyway. Or when it is already sold out, = the same. I heard the blackbird sing its evening song, this day, that made me soo happy, that makes me feel rich. Not interested in Stufff, for having stuff, the ikea style, as an example. I like, just like you, vintage things, furniture, clothes, and i am handy with the sewing machine, so i can fix it, to my taste. That makes me feel extremely rich...

I agree with you about the real luxuries. I have far more money than I've ever had before, but I don't consider myself rich. If I want another camera, computer or what ever I buy something second hand. The freedom to chose what you do, how you live & spend your time, is one of the greatest luxuries. I love to walk through the park & all the dogs come up to me to say hello. The squirrles scampering up the trees to keep out of the reach of the dogs. The Red Kites (bird) swirling magesticly overhead. Or coming back from my walk past the river, lake & flood defence area, watching all the Swans, Ducks & Geese. I once heard a talk by a rich man. He said 'things' are nice to have, but they won't make you happy. If you are not happy without them, you won't be happy with them. I heard another rich man say he had asked his daughter what she want for her birthday. She replied; 'I want you to give up smoking.' He said; 'Why couldn't she ask for something easy, like a Porche!' She clearly wasn't interested in 'things'. But she got her birthday present.

Ex, i am not againtst Ikea, perse, some of their furniture is great, but it is bit wihout fantasy, to me, that is i like to collect all kind of furniture styles, and put that together, they match too, Being rich, to me, is not in stuff, things, belongings, it is in what kind of a person yo. i are....
