I am not sure whether this was a true story, but it was too nice not to share it with you all. What I know for sure is that the book "Love, Medicine and Miracles: Lessons Learned about Self-Healing from a Surgeon's Experience with Exceptional Patients" by Bernie S. Siegel something I would highly recommend your attention. It is based on years of experience and somehow leads towards the above story resume - love heals, the same way as the absence of love that makes us ill.

I am sure it is true! I am a respiratory therapist and I worked in a very large hospital. I had a patient I was seeing pretty frequently. I was in his room when it was full of his family members and the Doctor explaining to them, he had but hours to live. Truly on his death bed. The Doctor left as did his family except his foreign wife, He met and married while in the navy. While crying, She held his hand and said you can not die, you can not leave me. Your family hate me and you promised if I left mine and came to America with you, you would always be there to protect and support me... YOU PROMISED. I came back a few hours later to give another treatment and she was still holding his hand. The next day I came back to work and he was on my work load. When I went up to see him they were packing up his room . I asked the nurse if he passed? She said no he made a marked change and they were moving him to a less acute setting. Few days later he went home. All true

I'm sure there are many similar stories of miraculous recoveries attributed to love and the heart. I'd also throw in the mind/brain or perhaps it's a combination of the two. I firmly believe a person can 'will' their bodies to do miraculous things. I agree. I rarely get sick/ill and one of the things I tell people is that I don't permit myself to get sick. I am only 1/2 joking. Make Women Female Again

Heard this today while driving to the store, had forgotten what a GREAt album this was on back in 1966; 'A winter's day In a deep and dark December I am alone Gazing from my window to the streets below On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow I am a rock I am an island I've built walls A fortress deep and mighty That none may penetrate I have no need of friendship, friendship causes pain It's laughter and it's loving I disdain I am a rock I am an island Don't talk of love Well I've heard the word before It's sleeping in my memory I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died If I never loved I never would have cried I am a rock I am an island I have my books And my poetry to protect me I am shielded in my armor Hiding in my room safe within my womb I touch no one and no one touches me I am a rock I am an island And a rock feels no pain And an island never cries...' Simon and Garfunkel, 1966, from the album 'Sounds of Silence' 'No man is an Island, Any man's death diminishes me, Because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee...' John Donne, 17th Century Dean of St.Paul's Cathedral, London, England And so it is with love between two people, or at least, as it should be, as your 'story' illustrates, Ex! I hope your vacation adventure has stimulated your senses and provided you with new found enthusiasms!!!

Thank you for that very special story! I do believe that a loving environment can heal and tragically, a unloving one can kill. People can die from a broken heart. To loosely quote Pearl Buck, we aren't given to know when a word to someone can bring them back from the edge or the wrong touch can push them off of it. At this difficult time for me, I am hoping for the best.

People die all the time from a broken heart but give true love and kindness anything is possible.

For $500 everyone can own one of these sculptures. Your comments are a little too philosophical for me I'll just leave it at it's an interesting piece. Howling at the moon and mal ad osteo.

I've read and heard many a story of death delayed after medicine as applied their craft. In short, don't underestimate the power of the mind, and yes, heart and soul to bring about a healing. In short, the true reason for the medical practice is to relieve suffering. Everything else, for good or ill to the situation is a blessing.

Ex I tis a lovely story, true or not! We must never forget the power of love and kindness! A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny
