So when is groping... err, not groping?

So, When is groping… err, not groping?

Well, apparently when it’s done for less than 10 seconds & done without lust. According to an Italian judge!

Without lust? Yeah right!!!

In April 2022, a 17 year old student was walking up some stairs in a Rome school. She felt her trousers pulled down & a hand caressed her bottom inside her underwear. She turned around to find a 66 year old caretaker had his hand on her.

He said; “you know I was only joking love.”

(I’m almost deafened by all the women I can hear laughing at this ‘joke’).

The girl reported the caretaker to the police, & the caretaker admitted touching the girl in the way described.

A Rome public prosecutor wanted a three & a half year jail term.
But the judges acquitted the caretaker of sexual assault charges.

According to the judges what happened; “does not constitute a crime”.
Because; it lasted less than 10 seconds & was done without lust.

(Whenever I’ve had my hand on a ladies breast, thigh or bottom, lust was very definitely involved. Consensually I hasten to add! But very definitely lustfully. LO

In Italy, a film star posted to TicTok staring into the camera in silence while fondling himself for ten seconds. (clothed). This started others to join in. An internet influencer & many other ordinary people all staring into camera in silence while fondling their private parts for ten seconds.

They are doing this to draw attention to how long ten seconds actually is, although as some of them have said, it’s not acceptable for even one second, another asked, “who’s counting the seconds while this is going on?”

Apparently this has caused quite a trend on TikToc & other internet sites in Italy.

The student was actually
molested by the school janitor.
The Italians have lost sight of
the most important part of
the crime of molestation. It
isn't the length of the crime
that matters but how long it
effects the victim that matters.

Dave54321 replies on 7/15/2023 12:41 pm:
Yes I fully agree it's the effect on the victim is the most important thing.

With regard to the Janitor comment, I think we have a misunderstanding here. In the account I read he was refered to as the caretaker. I should perhaps have put school caretaker.
School caretaker is the British equivilent to school janitor.
So we are really talking about the same thing.

Correct. It's not about the "intentions" of the perpetrator, but about the perception of the receiver. But if that's the Italian way works, I imagine it's OK to repost with a knuckle sandwich and bust a few of that asshole's teeth. And I wouldn't be too worried because that would also take less than 10 seconds.

Dave54321 replies on 7/15/2023 2:02 pm:
I quite agree it's about the revievers perception, if it's unwanted it shouldn't be happening. But as I've infered in my post I disagree with the judges view that the perportrator wasn't acting out of lust.
I just don't believe it.

If he was given a knuckle sandwich, I have a sneaking suspicion the
10 second rule might mysteriously disappear.

Dave54321 replies on 7/15/2023 2:13 pm:
And if I was the girls father I might have given him a knukle sandwich & argued the 10 second rule as my defense.

I think there is an appropriate penalty for this offense, same as what is done to thieves in arab countries....chop the offending hand off

Dave54321 replies on 7/15/2023 2:42 pm:
Well, that would certainly make them think twice.
But if proper punishment had been taking place it should
be possible to curb this behaviour without going to those
lengths.

I can't imagine any other western country letting someone off
completely, when they had admitted what they had done.

Not quite as bad but the Door Security at the 'O2' in Glasgow come pretty close. Let's just say that even when you're dressed in a manner where you couldn't possibly be concealing anything (offensive or otherwise) under your clothes, if you're female, their 'frisking' can be very thorough and enthusiastic.... xx

Dave54321 replies on 7/15/2023 3:17 pm:
Yes, I remember you saying how um... enthusiastic the security
was.
I don't know what the answer is. One the one hand it's arguable they
have an important job to do, on the other hand I have no doubt they
are over enthusiastic with females, particularly those who are
attractive, with good figures. Unless you have female door security,
for the females, though that may be just as unwelcome, if they too
get over enthusiastic, if you see what I mean.

Is this sort of frisking common now, or is it because they've had
problems at Glasgow 'O2'. I don't remember frisking going on when
I was going to concerts more often.

At the likes of the TECA It's a bit like airport security with the metal detectors and bag searches if you're silly enough to bring anything bigger than a small handbag. You only get a quick pat-down if you look dodgy, have a big coat or set off the detector It's usually a pretty quick and painless process.

I don't have a problem with the process or the reasons for it generally - but there's a big difference between them running their hands quickly over your back pockets and actually giving them a squeeze...

Given it's Glasgow, I think having 'problems' is the default position! xx

Yes, big difference.

Dave

This is AMAZING! I hope the Prosecutor is appealing!!

It is amazing, I mean the guy admitted what he had done.
The artical didn't mention anything about an appeal.

Also amazing. I mention I couldn't believe any other western
country would let him off scott free!
Today in the newspaper, "Sexual preditors stalk British police
stations". Staff & public assaulted, few prosicutions.
Unbelieveable, not safe in a police station!!!

Like all nasty actions some women have to endure of men.... bleagh...amp;
It is about CONSENT!!
and respecting the integrity of this womans body.

And, dont forget, Italy is still a very hostile country for women, it is very sexist.
With all their macho culture!!
Even their ex PM did admit he did grope women, left, right and centre....and was proud of it, too.

It is about consent and respect.

Yes, in the artical I read they were complaining of the attitude
to women in their country.

I can't believe any other western country would let him off
compleatly when he had addmitted what he had done.

Dave,
Most judges are already old geezers, who, maybe, cant get with the changes in the society...?
More power to women, the mé too, movement, to name one...
The whole LGHBTIQ+ movement, that gender fluid being....?

It attack their whole world vision. Everything they thought was written in stone.
James Brown sang about it; It is a mans, men world.

And, dont forget, men cover for men, that is still an real active behaviour, among most men, in general, at works situations, etc..
so that works for those old judges too....

Hi ryder,
I think it's an attitude problem in Italy.
I find it difficult to imagine any other western country
letting someone off scott free after admitting something
like that.
