The Dancer She danced when called upon. She danced until her feet went numb and then danced some more. She danced with her heart shining in her eyes and her soul helping lift her body great heights. She sought draw your attention and entertain you. She sought the pleasure in your eyes and the chance perform for just you. The music enticed the dancer perform and she hoped cajoled him watch. But the dance was not enough, the moves were not enough, the costume was not enough. It appears as if nothing was enough. She was heartbroken at the disappointment that shimmered through her body. The pain of it throbbing through her chest. The dancer looked down at her broken and bruised feet. The music no longer drawing her into the dance. Through tears in her eyes, she watched more elegant dancers take the spotlight. Their moves and costumes more than she could ever imagine. She picked up her tired and worn shoes, took off her costume which she once felt glamorous in and slowly walked away. She would never have the pleasure of performing for him again, but perhaps one day she would be brave enough to try and dance again. Dance with love in her eyes and hope in her heart. |
