The harshness of words The sub waited with bowed head and bated breath for the words slip forth from his lips. Ears longing for the caress of beautiful words to feed the soul. “Good ”, “pretty ”, “I’m proud of you”, “your mine”. Skin crawling, heart breaking, knowing that the words are not said in play “ your nothing but a slut”, “only good for one thing”, “You disappoint me”. The words she hears can either build her up, or tear her down. Whether they are whispered or said aloud in a room of many. The words we say can have a lasting impact. The protection of the screen in front of you may allow you to become bolder, and say and do things you may not necessarily have done in real life, but our consequences remain the same. Although our motto may be safe, sane, and consensual, I would like to see our community in respect. We may not agree with things said or done, but I would hope we have come father as humans to at least be respectful in our words and actions. I have been a victim of some pretty hurtful words in the last few months. Personal attacks on how I handle myself in this life and most recently how I raise my . Now I am not writing this to garner sympathy from those reading, but instead highlight how our words can have a lasting impact. Do not assume that because we have chosen to identify as a either a sub or as a Dom, that we have the right treat people without respect. Respect, is no a honored concept with so many of the new folks,who in my view are outsiders, who really do not have a grasp of the life. "One Big Sky Covers Us All Equally"

What a lovely way to express your feelings and thoughts regarding a subject we most likely, all, can relate to, unfortunately. Respect is the cornerstone of any kind of relationship be it the BDSM world or in our vanilla lives. Thank you for sharing.

Well I've had things said about me, but I won't talk about others that way, or talk to others disrespectfully. It's not because I think Im better than they are. It's only because thats not the kind of person I am. Those people know who they are.

Totally agree. just because someone is a sub doesnt make them any less of a person Words cant hurt me unless i allow them to
