The governor in a surprise move on Friday lifted all capacity limits for restaurants, gyms, theaters, bars that sell food, among other businesses. Even though he states 6 foot social distancing guidelines are still in effect.

Imagine getting the news on a Friday and scrambling to open at capacity. No warning, just all of a sudden, no restrictions. Restaurants are trying to call in past employees, and people are waiting, sometimes as long as a hour, to eat.

What's even sadder is the timing of this. Spring Break in all it's glory.. Of course we don't have a ocean. But we have golf courses everywhere, spring training baseball, wonderful resorts, and a robust restaurant and bar industry..

Not to mention beautiful weather. Yesterday it was in the mid 80's.. And should stay at least in the 70's or high 60's for the next 10 days.

I am excited about things returning to a semblance of normalcy. And only time will tell how this effects Az, and the other states. But my mask stays on until I am vaccinated at the very least..

I will be limiting my appearances in public, and then still with a mask.

Hope you're not in lockdown in a month once the cases start rising again.

Still seems too early to be doing this but I get it that businesses need to survive and people need to work. Good luck

I am not in lockdown, only the one I limit myself to. And like you I wonder what the cases will look like in the future? Thank you for your thoughts..

I have one friend in Florida for Bike Week all ready and another headed there today, and highly doubt that either will be wearing masks while there, not sure what they do out in public now at home, I do wear a mask when in stores, I just hope, that after a year now, that it hasn't become a permanent part of our attire forever, and keep wondering, when that curve will flatten that the experts have been telling us about for so long.

pac369 replies on 3/8/2021 5:06 am:
Yeah.. I here that Toy.. The fatigue factor is in full force. People are just tired of the restrictions. At the store yesterday a young couple in the check out in front of me did not wear masks. And were looking at me like I was from another planet.. Thanks for sharing..

I've gotten the vaccine but here in FL, as with you, it's Spring Break season and I live right on the coast. We still have the typical winter visitors so things are pretty busy in my area. The mask is part of my wardrobe and will be for sometime.

pac369 replies on 3/8/2021 3:28 pm:
Yes drmgirl.. I am with you... It is busy here as well. And I cannot rely on people to do the right thing. Thanks as always for your comments.

When that curve will flatten that the experts have been telling us about for so long.

The curve flattened long ago .... That goal post got moved, as each new one does also.

A state opening does not mean for a person to check their brain at the door. We both wear masks and socially distance. The thing we don't do is hide in the basement.

The only - and I mean the only - thing you will hear on the news is gloom and doom. Never so much as a glimmer of good news..

I will assume you've heard by now that everyone in AZ is doomed to certain death within weeks? Is that the narrative for your state?

Ahhh Plz.. No... It is not all doom and gloom. And while I was at 2 gyms today, everyone still wore their masks. So still people who are concerned about protecting themselves.. Things could be worse for sure..

Good grief!

Apparently there is something confusing about Az.

Seems like he should have given some more lead time to give businesses time to adjust and get ready. Is he always impulsive? I admit I don't know much about Ducey in his day to day management. Is he trying to piggyback on Abbot in TX doing the same?

pac369 replies on 3/8/2021 3:38 pm:
I am not exactly sure about his motives. As far as being impulsive? I would say no. But the businesses said the same thing. How they would have appreciated some notice. Thanks for the comments..

Someone said that lifting limits in just a few states is like reserving part of a swimming pool for people who piss in the water.

pac369 replies on 3/8/2021 3:42 pm:
Probably some truth in that. But it does take the burden off the state and places it on the businesses and individuals.. No limits in your business capacity's, but socially distance also.. I am going to continue what I have done to stay safe. Thanks for the comments..

>>someone said that lifting limits in just a few states is like reserving part of a swimming pool for people who piss in the water.<<

sort of. the expression is about having a "non-peeing" section of the swimming pool and it was most recently said by neil degrasse tyson. but the expression has been around for years, usually mentioned as part of an argument related to banning smoking in casinos and the ineffectiveness of non-smoking sections, when you allow smoking just a few feet away: "having a smoking and non-smoking section in the casino is like have a peeing and non-peeing section of the swimming pool." it doesn't work.

it's a flawed analogy with mask wearers and non-mask wearers, however, but there it is.

>>and now an insane person sits in the oval office. SMH.<<

don't shake that head too vigorously or those marbles might come out your nose. really?" you think there is an INSANE person in the oval office? girlfriend, where you been the past four years?

if you have a policy difference with the president of the united states, please say what it is and reasonable people can discuss. but you think he's INSANE?

really?

sadly, there is no cure for BDS.

>>but my mask stays on until I am vaccinated at the very least..<<

i'm vaccinated and my mask stays on for a variety of reasons, the least of which is that I haven't had a cold or any other illness in over a year. flu deaths have plummeted and hospitalizations from flu and other respiratory ailments are way down. and yet there are people who still insist masks are a commie pinko liberal threat to your god-given right to be maskless.

for years, i've been flying through tokyo's narita airport and i always thought it strange that all the shopkeepers and airport personnel wore masks. now i think it makes a great deal of sense.

COVID is here to stay for many years, my friends. we'll most likely be wearing masks for many years, as well. COVID or no, it make a great deal of sense.

pac369 replies on 3/8/2021 3:46 pm:
Well... You have made some interesting points for sure. Like you I have not been sick at all this past year. And I do believe my behavior has contributed to that. Reluctantly, I also agree Covid is not going away anytime soon.. Thanks for sharing all of your thoughts.

Like someone has already mentioned I hope your state doesn't pay with a
spike in infections.

I understand balancing the needs of bussiness with public health must be very
difficult. I don't know the local circumstances, but it sounds a bit early to me.

pac369 replies on 3/8/2021 3:48 pm:
Yes Dave.. Many of us do agree with you. But at this point I think many believe in just playing the odds, especially if no one they know has gotten sick. Thanks for sharing...
