I really don't understand the flirts from gold members... Is it just being cautious? Lazy? Or not wanting to take a few minutes to introduce yourself or your interest?? Please know this though... I do not respond to them. It seems sorta juvenile to me. Almost like high school games... If you send me a message I will reply to anyone.. Whether there is interest or not, I will say so in a polite way. And now that I blog, anyone can get in touch with me... So... Please ease up on the flirts and contact me like a normal person would do... ~ Physical strength is measured by what we carry. Inner strength is measured by what we can bear. ~

Dear Pac I know when I was gold many years ago now, I had my limit in the Hotlist section, and so I used flirt in 2 ways. First to show an initial interest which was usually followed up a few days or a week or so later with a message. Back in those days you could as a unpaid member do flirts and IMs at will without it costing you. Not so these days. The second way I used it was basically as a bookmark in order to come back and view profiles in depth.

I agree with NonNonsense. I use a flirt if I don't have time to write or just don't feel like writing at the moment. It's a good bookmark but even then I sometimes forget to write. I also use it as a smile to subs I've already been in contact with just to say hello or signal I'm online.

Back in the day, I used to be a gold member. I never really flirted, I did not see the point. If I liked someone, I messaged them.... but that was back in the "pre points" days when an ordinary member could read the message without having to take out a second mortgage... Now I sometimes get a flirt from a gold member and I just think... "Why bother?" I honestly think that Alt is fabricating activity to try and cajole me into an upgrade!

Sorry I "Flirt" to probe member account s to see if there is a "real" person on the other end. A Bot wont respond. A Scammers response is going to be predictable and easy to detect as a scammer. The Flirt is a simple easy function why not use it?

I think the flirts thing is rather juvenile. However, it can save you the time (and thought process) in writing something, and a way to find if someone might be interested in you. On a scale of 1 to 10, flirts have a usefulness value of about 3. What Magnolia Blossom (the owners of this site) should do, is shitcan these different levels of membership - just make one price for everyone, and let everyone have the equivalent of "gold" capabilities. They'd probably see an increase in traffic if they did something like that.

To take it a step further. Why even message someone through the mail system, knowing the receiver of said message can’t even read it? Unless one has a gold(+) account allowing standards to see and reply, even writing a message is pointless in that case. Unless they’ve separated the membership by gender and females get free all access accounts? I know their affiliated site Alternative Lifestyle Singles used to do that. But all these sites have taken a complete shit!
