Not only is Spencer Eldon suing Nirvanna. He claims that "he feels like the biggest porn star". Because so many saw his baby penis... He, and his lawyer on CNN last night, both stress how exploited he was... Why file a lawsuit now? He's 30 years old and has had numerous years and chances to do this... But let's not forget... This is the same man who has Nevermind tattooed on his chest. And has used his baby celebrity status to his advantage... Does the lawsuit have basis? On the facts that his parents were never paid for his image, and are saying they never authorized the photo, definitely The porn aspect though... Seems quite unlikely... Imagine this though... The lawsuit coinciding with the 30 year anniversary of the album Nevermind.. That date being September 24, 1991 when the album was first released... Things that make you go hmmm ~ Physical strength is measured by what we carry. Inner strength is measured by what we can bear. ~

He, and his lawyer on CNN last night. If I had filed such a money grabbing lawsuit, I'd be ashamed to show my face in public. Did they go into the emotional stress he's had to suffer... wink wink? There is seemingly no end to how ridiculous people can be when it comes to money. Make Women Female Again

I saw that and thought it was the dumbest thing ever lol. I think the guy now just wants some easy money and finding any reason to sue.

Is he taking action against his parents? They may not have been paid for or authorized the use of the photo. But presumably they had something to do with how they got hold of the photo. Yes it's all a bit fishy, the timing as you mention. But also he got together with a photographer & re-shot the photo as an adult. He suggested doing it nude, but the photographer thought it best he kept his jeans on. So he was quite keen to give everyone another look at his adult penis this time. If he really felt exploited, why would you be prepared to reshoot the photo as an adult? Even in the photo he's chasing the mighty dollar. Oh well nevermind, eh.

Money play - I agree. His father was offered $200 to do the shoot before it took place. How is it any different to a session muscian paid a set fee to play on a song? The session muscian gets paid even if the record doesn't sell of course, & Eldon did get a platinum album & a teddy for his first birthday from the record company. Some excerts from the BBC articale if you're interested. There's a photo of him recreating it, but I don't know how to put a photo in the comments. He has "Nevermind" tattooed across his chest. Elden has recreated the album cover several times as a teenager and adult - always wearing swimming trunks - to mark Nevermind's 10th, 20th and 25th anniversaries. However, he has sometimes expressed ambivalence about the photoshoot. In 2016, he told Time Magazine that he "got a little upset" about his notoriety as he grew older. "It's hard not to get upset when you hear how much money was involved," he continued. "[When] I go to a baseball game and think about it: 'Man, everybody at this baseball game has probably seen my little baby penis,' I feel like I got part of my human rights revoked." In other interviews, he has been more upbeat about the image. "It's always been a positive thing and opened doors for me," he told the Guardian six years ago. "I'm 23 now and an artist, and this story gave me an opportunity to work with Shepard Fairey for five years, which was an awesome experience. He is a huge music connoisseur: when he heard I was the Nirvana baby, he thought that was really cool." In 2008, Spencer's father Rick recounted the photo shoot to US radio network NPR, saying he had been offered $200 to take part by Weddle, who was a family friend. "We just had a big party at the pool, and no one had any idea what was going on!" The family quickly forgot the photoshoot until, three months later, they saw the Nevermind album cover blown up on the wall of Tower Records in Los Angeles. Two months after that, NPR's article said, "Geffen Records sent 1-year-old Spencer Elden a platinum album and a teddy bear". The album, which included the hits Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are and Lithium, went on to sell 30 million copies around the world. Speaking to the Guardian in 2019, Weddle said he was still in contact with Elden, and acknowledged he was "conflicted about the picture". "He feels that everybody made money off it and he didn't," the photographer said. "I think he deserves something. But it's always the record labels that make the money."

I remember buying that cd. I looked at the cover numerous times. It didn't do anything mentally for me except become a unique identifier for the album. It could just as well have been a photo of a bug or a person's finger or a car bumper; made no difference. This fella made no artistic relevance to this music and got paid for his photo, so he just needs to find his place in the world. __MAILBOX for comments here__
