The Twilight Twinkle Glow... Is just a part of Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, NM. Let me describe some history first. 1. The first balloon event was in 1972. 2. It's a fact; most photographed event in the world! 3. ABQ has idea flying conditions called the "box". Where balloons can take off from low altitudes drifting south, then when altitude increases they drift north. 4. Over 500 balloons fly each year with pilots from 50 countries represented. 5. A typical balloon flight will last between 45 minutes to 2 hours. 6. What goes up must come down. Balloons land all over the city. On golf courses, roads, yards, and sometimes power lines. There will be a few accidents every year. 7. The cost of a plain balloon runs around $25,000. The special shapes balloons can cost around $200,000. Now... Back to the Twilight Twinkle that happens both weekend nights and the last Thursday and Friday during the nine day event. And what a sight it is to behold. The balloons are ready to go, but tethered so they won't take off. Can you see yourself walking amongst all the balloons? Remember, the balloon Fiesta is the only event where you can get up close and personal. Once dusk settles in the sky a man comes over the microphone, and all the balloons light up at the same time! It is just beautiful... And it again reminds you why it is the most photographed event in the world... I've been to quite a few balloon festivals (never NM) They are a lot of fun. I did go on a flight once. Strangely enough I ran into a acquaintance in the balloon basket. Unbeknownst to us the balloon took off while we were talking. Never felt a thing until suddenly we were above the trees.

Night Glow at the Abq Balloon Fest is awesome. Are they calling it Twilight Twinkle now. Does not matter it is a great event. We would try to go at least twice every year while we lived there.

Was just there yesterday and saw the morning ascent from the parking lot where I had business. It sure does make money for Albuquerque.
