A freak accident... Happened in Santa Fe, NM yesterday... Alex Baldwin is the star/producer of a movie being made called "Rust", which is a western set in the 1880's. During a scene he fires the prop gun, which misfires and kills the female director of photography, and injures a director who is hospitalized... Of course the incident is being investigated. Because what the fuck kind of projectile or blank in that gun? This is not a normal occurrence. It happened on a movie set in 1993 from what pac has read... Considering how many movies have been made since then you can see what a isolated incident it is... What a tragedy for everyone involved! No charges have been filed at this time... ~ Physical strength is measured by what we carry. Inner strength is measured by what we can bear. ~ |

Just heard about this...a very sad and messed up accident that never should have happened!

Last I heard, the prop gun was loaded with a “live round” (a real bullet)….this same thing happened in the early 90’s on the set of The Crow which killed the star Brandon Lee…Bruce Lee’s son. That one was speculated to have been a hit job. Which then begs the question, aren’t these NOT prop guns if they can be loaded with real bullets that can fire and send the bullet flying? That my friends is simply called a GUN. Nothing “prop” about a prop gun that can be loaded with real bullets. That’s bat shit crazy to me. But what do I know…🤪🤪🤪🤪

Basic firearms safety protocol should have been followed. That shit is not hard. He has zero excuse, prop gun or not, you ALWAYS...ALWAYS follow the most basic of rules. Place the weapon on safe. Drop the magazine. Clear the chamber. You do this EVERY FUCKING TIME you handle a gun. Actor or not, he's guilty of negligent homicide. But he'll skate. We all know it. Sad, really. Condolences to the victims' families.

For some reason(s), safety protocols were not followed. The only difference between "Live" and "Blank" is the lack of a projectile. The round has gunpowder to simulate the flash and noise but nothing leaves the chamber. However, even a blank can be dangerous since there is a pressure wave when the gun is fired.

prop guns still have a wax or rudder bullet to make it work close up they are deadly for can kill you. sad too hear of this death by accident.

No such thing as a prop gun - either live firing or non-working. Even a starting pistol ejects debris down the barrel when firing, and at point-blank range it will do damage - so treat it as a hot weapon, and Alec has been around enough to know this. The props guy is probably negligent on handing over a weapon with the safety off, and without clear instruction, even though Alec Baldwin had heard this safety brief millions of times before. A sad chain of events. D-J xx

It's crazy to think a life could end so suddenly and tragically. Quite sad.

He is not a favorite of mine at all . I have no idea what a prop gun is but if it can fire real rounds, then it is a real gun. We use blank rounds in our Honor Guard for the military funerals we do, but the rifles we use can easily be loaded with live ammo. This sounds very screwy and someone knew the rounds were live.

Hi this is sad to hear especially since he is very against guns.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if he left the show.

Complete tragedy. No other words. For each and every person involved, families, everyone. How life can turn upside down in a split of a second... no other word but tragedy...
