These are fair questions. No one was born knowing. I am no doctor nor I'm under hormone therapy, but I have read enough to know some basic info. And I encourage every one interested in the topic to use this opportunity provided by our friend PAC to educate ourselves. That said, I'd be happy to share what little knowledge I have gathered through my years practicing amateur crossdressing. To best assimilate this process, I think is proper to explain what gender dysphoria is. Gender Dysphoria is the clinically significant distress or impairment of an individual related to a strong desire to be of another sex than the one assigned at birth. Not all transgenders or gender diverse experience dysphoria but that's usually a point of start. This clinical condition may be determined at any stage of life but is often detect at childhood. There are has been controversies about how early in life should an individual should start transition is desired, but it is often recommended to be during young adulthood (1 . Using hormones blockers in a child may have significant impacts in the physiological and/or psychological formation. But also, if attempting transitioning rather later in life (40s and 50s), one has to make sure to get the right medical advise as some hormone therapy processes can lead to serious health conditions, including cancer. As one would imagine, a younger body will assimilate hormonal changes better than an old body. It is recommended that and individual commence with a psychological evaluation and therapy before undergoing medical processes. From there, hormonal therapy can be recommended and at that point, after years (in a few cases, months) changes in the body may be visible. Thereafter, the individual then can decide if further enhancements are desired like breast implants (MtoF) or removal (FtoM) and/or genitalia reconstruction through sex reassignment surgery. There is a lot of good information in the matter available online, and I appreciate PAC for bringing up the topic in a sexy way.
