The loudest hole in golf...

Will be on proud display today on regular network tv. What a spectacle the sixteenth
hole at TPC Scottsdale has become for the WM Phoenix Open. No other tournament in
golf resembles the Phoenix Open today. As crowds will probably be close to 700,000 for the four-day event.

The fans showed up early this morning. Probably hours before the 0700 opening of the doors. They were greeted with food, music, and camaraderie as they waited. Then watch the fuck out! As the gates are opened it's a mad dash, and pac means run, t o the sixteenth hole. These fans will probably wait a few hours before the first golfers even show up...

In the meantime, the fans will be doing some serious drinking. The weather being so warm will contribute t o this also. And in case you don't know what happens at the sixteenth hole. Let me explain it to you. It's a par three hole. As the pic shows there are bleachers and boxes all around the putting green and tee boxes. With the pro's teeing off from a elevated tee box. Any golfer who does not land on the putting green in one shot, will face a loud chorus of boo's! And the drunker the fans get the longer the boo's last...

Sometimes players will earn the fans favor by throwing hats or other trinkets into the crowd. But they still might get booed. It's just marvelous the fan mentality of the sixteenth hole. But... all in all it's one of the greatest holes t o watch in golf!

pac... you should get tickets and go... I’ve been to the Masters and great experience... if you love “certain holes.” 😉

It’s like monster trucks meets WWE meets golf. It’s a little bizarre, but so much fun. The only thing missing is a sound system with music blaring. 😂

It's fun seeing and hearing the reactions on that hole, when golf is usually so quiet.

I agree TM!
Had a great time watching today...

Why the sixteenth hole?
Is there a particular reason?

I would have thought it would have been the eighteenth hole
for the finish.

pac369 replies on 2/12/2022 6:10 pm:
Not exactly sure Dave?

But now it's just a tradition. There were 17,500 people at the 16 th hole today. Massive crowd for one hole.
18 is quite subdued by comparison...

I love the contrast.
Hole 15 when a birdie is made? A proper golfclap.
Hole 16? High fives, shotgunning beers, screaming at the top your lungs, etc.
😂

It's marvelous to me K!
