It's hot as hell! In Arizona right now. From Phoenix down t o Tucson and the surrounding areas. We have been under a heat advisory for days, and it's not expected t o end till Sunday. When temperatures might drop a few degrees... pac is trying t o finish her furniture work. But it's a challenge with sweat pouring in her eyes at 8 am. Because the temp is 89 degrees! As pac thought about it. She realized it's her first June in 18 years in Southern Az. Last year she spent all of June in Wisconsin. The year before in Northern, Az which is almost like another state. Then almost 15 years in Albuquerque, NM where it did cool off every night... The heat is relentless. Not only breaking records for daily high temperatures. But also breaking records at night because it can't cool down enough. In other words... no relief day or night until this brutal heat wave passes... Everyone talks of loving the heat until they live here for a few years. Many will leave as the new influx of non believers move in. Only t o repeat the cycle... As the temperatures soar over 110 degrees in Phoenix and the surrounding areas the next few days. The future of Arizona is a bit scary t o me. As every year it's hotter than the year before... For those of you who experience four seasons and a easing into summer. You might want t o appreciate what you have! ~ Physical strength is measured by what we carry. Inner strength is measured by what we can bear. ~ |

No way, I don't do heat well at all. I have ridden motorcycles most of my life, and you get a breeze on you, but it's the road temperature heat, and it's hot, so hydration is important. I get a kick out of people that say they like the heat, but live in their AC'c homes, drive an AC'd car and work in an AC'd office. The only time they are out in the heat is walking between them, or when at a pool. I can always put on enough to stay warm, I can't take off enough to stay cool, and when I try, others don't like it. Heat and humidity, which we have a lot of here in the midwest, just wears you out as soon as you step outside.

Pac I hear you. Here in FL seem to have 2 months winter 1 each spring and fall the rest is summer heat and humidity. As someone who spent first 23 years in North Dakota, I can say loved the snow games but have no need to relive -20 to 30 degree nights with wind chills reaching -40 to 50 regularly. Only hint on furniture project I can give is while I was redoing a cedar chest my sweat drops showed thru the finish even though could not see before using antique varnish.

Having 4 seasons here where I live is kind of real fortune, though climate does change and over the last decade some seasons have become less obvious, so to speak, like Spring, for instance, which has been very brief this year, and we almost jumped straight from Winter to Summer... anyway, we do have that necessary change, which makes life a bit easier. Please take care and be sure you are hydrated enough, Pac

I recall being in Las Vegas about ten years ago in July, when it was about 115. While I was puming gas into my rental car, the wind picked up and it was like standing in front of a hair dryer.

Head back to Florida. Or are you ducking the hurricane season. Kinda like out of the frying pan into the fire for you. Keep hydrated.

pac I know the desert is always hot in summer but, I cannot wonder how much Climate Change is making it worse! I hope you stay cool and safe A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny

pac369 replies on 6/9/2022 3:22 pm: Mmmmm "Head back to Florida"? Why do you think I am from Florida Ron? Could have sworn your profile used to say Florida. Maybe I just assumed with golfing in winter. Maybe it was the turtles

Pac, my comment was banned for some reason? If you banned it, I’m totally fine with that, as it’s your blog and your topic thread! But if Alt banned it, I can’t imagine why??? I’ve left off the link to the original news story as maybe Alt doesn’t like links? Anyway here is my original comment below…altered slightly to bypass words or numbers Alts b ot sentries don’t like? ….[Lake Mead and Lake Powell (both reservoirs) are drying up. Both are at record low levels. They’ve dropped below thir ty % capacity for the first time since the d ams were built. And it’s only June when they should still be filling. Mead has dropped below the intake valve for the first time ever, and they’ve had to start pumping the water out now instead of it flowing out through gravity. The great American Southwest might be un inhabitable in t en years, or they’ll have to get rid of all golf courses, lawns, pools, fountains…..plus start recycling sew-age water for drinking water instead of watering golf courses with it? Las Vegas has already started down this path. The human body si xty f ive % water. This is going to get very interesting, very quickly. Shade up, Pac! Btw, I love Tucson….IN THE WINTER!!! 😁

Sat. here near Salt Lake City is supposed to break an all time record as well. And yes, climate change is clearly at least part of the problem since all but a couple of the last ten years or more are the hottest on record.
