Why get a gold membership ?

Can someone me understand the benefit of having a gold membership here? Most of the members are standard members and if you IM them or email them, they can’t even see unless they have points. So, from my perspective, you can really only interact with other gold members. Am I missing something?

 I became a Gold member because it was so frustrating not to be able to read messages, etc etc. Not sorry I did and I recently expand that to allow standard members to contact me. So easier communication for a start and wider audience.

I'm not sure but I suspect females may get easier terms to become gold, but that's just a guess.

The other reason was to weed out the scammers and fakes. If you have been in ALT for some time as a Gold member, you are less likely to be fake; it's Just not worth it for them.

I guess finally, for roughly a cup or two of coffee a week, I get to enjoy all the benefits and features of this site. More and more, I'm meeting kindred spirits and enjoying the videos, pics and cams, often twice a day. It's becoming my main entertainment in these more socially distance times, and I'd rather be on here than any other social media that sucks one's time. And it's certainly more fun than being in a bar drinking by myself.

Thanks for the insight. Back in the day,Alt used to offer short term, free, gold memberships if you had enough engagements with your profile. Plus IM was free but limited to 5/day. Which was nice. Then standards could still interact with each other.

 At one time alt was good allowing standard members to chat and i believe to look at their profiles.Now, they are very stingy giving points so standard members can chat. It is becoming a useless site.

Thanks. I really just can’t see the benefit of getting gold. Why would you not let standards at least respond if the conversation was initiated by a gold member?

 Howdy and welcome to the blogs.
I have only ever been a standard memeber but i know many have stopped paying for gold but i guess it depends on what you seek.
I believe that females can still read mail. I don't use IM so i'm not sure if females can do that for free.

One of the quirks around here is that when you blog, in order for everyone to see it you need to do your own first comment ! I am sure many people will be able to tell you much more than i once they see your blog post.
