Those Halcyon Days, A Departure

It was around the dawn of the Millenium. It was a time when the old released its grip on the new. It was a time that we dared to seek more than the conventions of life and respond to the tantalizing, new alternative forms of living. It was a time of awakening, a time of recognition, a time of departure and a time of arrival. Those were the halcyon days of alt.

And a time it was. The alt site flourished and those of us who were there at the time came with with aspiration and expectation. There were dominant individuals among us, as well as a myriad of submissive men and women. There were occasional switches and, yes, those who were not yet sure the alternative lifestyle was for them.

Back then, it was not a misnomer when alt called its rooms "chatrooms". They were indeed that. And the chatrooms were flush with individuals who represented all manner of alternative lifestyles. Perhaps, hard to believe now, but alt offered only one room that was not a chatroom per se; the cybersex room. Meanwhile, the chatrooms were true to their names, The Japan room was a room for those interested in Japan. However, there was also a Japanese room where all were required to speak Japanese. Seriously, one could be banned from the language rooms in alt for three days if a language other than that of the room were spoken. There was an unfettered, unrestricted flow of commuication back then, in the chatrooms and in alt's instant messenger. As a result, people met people, relationships formed and alt became the go to meeting place no matter where we resided on the alt planet.

Those were the halcyon days of alt. Some of you remember them. Others never knew them. I am fortunate to have lived during those days. Now, I am not here solely to look back with a nostalgic eye, but rather to look forward to my new departure. You see, it's another new day, and it's a good day to say goodbye.

Never having been part of alt in those days i can't miss them, only miss the idea of them. Your chatroom offered what You describe as the halcyon days, a place to talk with others of varying beliefs and opinions of the Dom/sub world, but more important just a place to talk, about anything, to learn about people, ideas, notions, and learn perhaps a bit more about ourselves as well as each other. You'll be missed. The number of views of this blog in a scant one day is testament to just how much. i'm sorry i didn't find Your room, and You, earlier.

Master ADP is yes is a close friend and confident to me. He always will be even if He leaves this wonderful site. I for one will miss Him here with His depth and His knowledge. Yes ALT has changed and that is a great shame I expect they made a wrong commercial decision or two but what corporation doesn't! However we live in a new era of many different forms of instant communication which many prefer to use and in order to survive things have to change and adapt or they get left behind and forgotten. An individual like Master ADP leaving is a very bad sign for ALT as is the fact that the other day only 35 people in total were in the chat rooms (the powers do need to keep their eye on the ball or it will certainly run away) so to speak. Unfortunately and It has to be said the caliber of visitors has also declined but Hey Ho what to do! So Master ADP I raise my glass and bottom up to You in a respectful way! Here is to you and may your new path take you forward to the next exploration of freedom and pastures new! Fay xxx
