College: AKA over-priced and over-glorified daycare

With the exception of engineering, law, medical, and business degrees, there is no way college is worth the expense. Especially at todays prices. Anyone that tells you college grads make more money than non-college grads is only telling you part of the story. Here is the whole story:

1) The people that have the highest job placement and highest incomes after college is in the 4 areas I mentioned above. However, I can speak to engineering, you will spend countless hours studying at zero dollars an hour. Any other degree will have job markets that are highly competitive and thus lower pay.

2) Truckers, Pilots, and many skilled trades are making salaries that are comparable to anyone with a Bachelors degree. These do not require 4 years of time and have very very high job placement since demand is so high. Save a little money and invest wisely, and you will end up with more money than the people with masters degrees and possibly PHDs. Not bad for package delivery.

3) The debt is killer. Especially with higher interest rates now. I got news for you, Biden will not pay for everyones debt. It is mathematically impossible. Therefore, he gets to pick and choose who gets their debt paid and who does not. You better assume that you are not special and just expect nothing.

4) The cost just keeps going higher and higher. The cost has been out of control and will continue simply because colleges have no incentive to keep costs under control. So, they spend, spend, spend.

5) The concept of a well rounded education is a joke. I know plenty of college grads that are just clueless and people that have no college be just fine. Association does not imply causation.

Just remember, if you go to college, there is an opportunity cost and the investment is more risky than you realize. One thing is for sure, if you do decide to go to college, have a plan and make sure you have evaluated ALL of your alternative first.
