Am I wrong or has something changed?

OK, has the etiquette changed in a decade…Granted, I have been away from the community for years but, what is with all these initial messages where I am referred to as Master? I have always thought Master/Mistress reserved for the owner of a Sub; otherwise, the submissive would refer to Doms as Sir or Ma'am.

Maybe I'm getting too caught up in my head, or perhaps a bit wrapped up in tradition with formalities and titles. I just believe that the term Master/Mistress is bestowed on a person that has accepted and taken on a long-term role of responsibility for the submissive well-being.

Granted, there are always beginners that don't know any better, and it seems that there are way more fakes and scammers than there were ten years ago. I just find it slightly annoying.
