Our dependence on WiFi, may be our downfall.  Some of us will go to great lengths to stay connected

I was without Internet for a day recently, or most of a day. I used my phone as a hotspot to get on my PC.  Ok, so I'm guilty. I was going nuts without internet access at home.

Call me old, hard headed, what ever you want or I might just be technology challenged, but I doubt if I have sent more than 2 dozen texts, and have never been online on my cell phone. To me, it's a phone, if I want to be online, I get on my pc. Being a phone for me, it sits here on my desk, it has voicemail if I don't hear it ringing. The only added app I have is for Texas Roadhouse to get confirmation when I use my pc to make advanced seating. That is because they won't answer their phone, they insist on using the app. And yes, I let them know my thoughts about it too.

It almost seems to be the way the world is moving into its new era and unless you are forced to be without it, pray you have a creative partner/dynamic to keep you utterly, engaged with more memorable things. My first time without any internet was in 2013 my second visit to Norway and Max Faust (a former blogger from here) rented a cabin on the big river. No indoor plumbing either. Six weeks and he made sure I used the camera only. My visit there in 2019 was so boring as we were in the mountains with great internet and we both sat in chairs on our laptops. lol.. 21 days there and all I kept saying, was fuck I could/should be home.

I use my computer as my private, not as private as I think, library. I use my phone for a GPS when driving somewhere I do not know the way. Usually it sits on the desk beside the computer as I am out enjoying my life and it is a messaging tool. I am not buying in to it like most. This life is too beautiful not to be looking up

You're supposed to use a PC or a cellphone and they give you no alternatives. That's why I eventually had to buy a cellphone after resisting for decades.

Just be careful what wifi you connect to. Places like Starbucks aren't secure at all. I've been on the internet since 1992 and on wifi a year after IEEE 802.11 came out in 1997. Wireless is only somewhat secure running a VPN. If someone is going to steal your private information with a man in the middle attack it's going to generally happen at Starbucks or Barnes and Nobel. Motels are least likely. most people are there for either fucking or sleeping. I'm just cruising by so im not going to get into the specifics of data aggregation and system penetration. peace out.
