Well, dogs have only been with us and teaching us for, oh, 40,000 years or so off the top of my head - but the experts have been pushing that number back in the last decade or more I think. In any case, long before the last time ice covered most of North America. But we've been out of Africa for a lot longer than that and in Africa for a _much_ longer time. And dogs have to compete with everything else we've been doing, including what's implied in your last picture and including that cats have been trying to teach us unrelated things (like worshipping them as gods - see ancient Egypt and Bast). So it'll likely be a while before we get the ideas dogs are trying to teach us ...

Canines can teach us to recognize loyalty and to value loyalty. Canines can teach us what love is all about. This is your best post ever in my opinion.
