To some extent, we all have an ego. I dare say that a Dominant without a decent ego isn’t going to be very dominant. A Submissive with a stronger ego than their Dominant will walk all over that Dominant. A person’s ego is their sense of self-importance and self-esteem, both important qualities in a Dominant… as long as it doesn’t take over the Dominant’s personality. A Dominant with too much ego, can be viewed as pompous and overbearing. Narcissism can come into play with a person with an ego too large. The world is full of people that can be used as examples of an ego out of control. Many of them are despised because their ego drives them to exert their control on all things within their power. That kind of egotistical person isn’t respected, but rather feared. THAT kind of ego is, mostly, not what a submissive is looking for. Pure fear for what the Dominant might do out of pure ego, is not what BDSM is about. The fear in BDSM that is acceptable is more towards the apprehension side. The fear of what comes next, though you trust the Dominant to keep you safe is a tempered fear. Ego, can get in the way of a dynamic’s growth if not kept in check. Other’s in the Lifestyle will shun the egotistical, the narcissistic, leaving the partners friendless. When vetting a Dominant, be sure to judge the ego. It WILL affect the dynamic in countless ways, both good and bad, depending on the size of the ego. © 2/22/24 Ronald Dirienzo

ron, have you ever noticed that some people just can not read your post and take it for what you wrote.....but feel compelled to inject their own version to usurp yours..... why do you think they do that.....? Jealous? The need to try and one up? Are so obscure they have the need to be noticed? I think you could write that there was a difference between night and day and one would give a rebuttal..... You always have good reads, keep up the good words.....

I printed out bunches of them over the last year and put them on the table at the munch so people could read them and pass around.....thought provoking comes to mind.... Made for some really good discussions and real life thoughts on some of the subjects.
